Nah if the teasers or even trailers are great; it increases the excitement and anticipation tenfold. But the catch is they have to be cut brilliantly.
Look at Starwars, Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad. All had their trailers released over a year in advance and the hype has gotten 10x bigger.

In BW; same was the case with PK last year with PK's first poster thought it was about eight months before the release. I don't think they needed to release anything after that. That alone did the trick.

If you have a good product and the teaser/poster/trailers are cut well; then it adds to excitement and anticipation.
