I'm open to the idea of a single: Shraddha Kapoor

Shraddha Kapoor has just returned from a family vacation in Hong Kong's Disneyland and Macau to savour the fruits of success. Her latest release, ABCD 2, has set feet tapping and cash counters jingling, adding to her hattrick of hits" Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain and Haider.

"I feel blessed, nurtured by the love of the audience and hope they keep buying tickets for my movies. At the same time I'm nervous and scared because I know that I'll now have to work even harder," she admits with a slight wobble in her voice.

The actress dismisses reports about her playing Radha in the Ram Lakhan remake saying shortly, "I'd love to do a film with Karan (Johar) but this particular film hasn't been offered to me."

She confirms that Baaghi and Rock On 2 are on track. "Both are very different films. I'm excited about working with Sajid Nadiadwala, Sabbir (Khan) and Tiger (Shroff) for the first time but also anxious about matching steps with Tiger who's a phenomenal dancer. And I'm kicked about making music with SEL (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) and singing with Farhan (Akhtar) in Rock On 2. All of us, along with the director Shujaat Saudagar, met up recently and jammed together. It was a rocker!," she beams. After Galiyan (Ek Villain), Do jahaan (Haider) and Bezubaan phir se (ABCD 2), Shraddha today is accepted as a singeractress.

But she is quick to point out that she has never had any formal training in music. "But now I have started training with Samantha Edwards, a jazz singer with the most amazing voice, for Rock On 2 in which I will be crooning a few songs. I've taken about 10-12 classes with her. I hope some of it showed up in Bezubaan phir se since I had done a few sessions with Samantha when we recorded the song," she says.

Will we hear her in Baaghi too? "The director and I haven't spoken about this yet. I would love to sing and dance in every film if the director lets me," she laughs. "I have a good time in the recording studio but I'm still figuring out my voice. I'm open to learning but the composers I work with have to accept the fact that I'm coming to them untrained."

Buzz is, Shraddha will be recording a single next year. Bring that up and she says carefully, "There's no such development right now but I am open to the prospect of a single."

Today, it's hard to imagine that this critically acclaimed, commercially viable actress, one of the loveliest faces in B-town, was almost written off after two early misses.

Remind her of those dark days and Shraddha says quietly, "Everyone feels bad when they are low and happy when they're on a high. I have to thank my family and friends for keeping their faith in me and urging me to never give up. Today, it feels great to be sharing my success with them."

But her father, Shakti Kapoor, is often heard cribbing these days that his darling daughter is so busy that he often has to make do with a hug. "I don't know why dad keeps saying that because he's the one who's still so busy," she quips. "He has been passionate about his work and driven for decades. He's the driving force behind my brother Siddhanth and me. I'm the one who sometimes has to make do with a hug."
