I had fallen prey to a similiar hoax by as reputed a book house as Reader's Digest a few years back. The Indian branch of Reader's Digest is owned by another giant in the publishing field ie India Today ! I have been an ardent reader of their books and had often purchased several series from them. So I got trapped in this huge scam which promised me a lux car along with cash rewards if I followed a trail ...of course I had to buy several collections before I realized I was being goofed up and let go.Karan too has fallen prey to some cheaters and yes there is no reason to be ashamed of it. In fact he has acted brave to report the swindle and I hope he recovers the losses. Even if he does not this will alert others to remain careful.Instead of ridiculing the actor we should ridicule the system where such scams occur daily. Remember the many scam offers of land and planting trees etc that would be made a few years back ...all swindlers that cheated so many thousands and have all disappeared after collecting several millions in loot from an innocent public.
The scam he fell for the most common internet scam. Everyone including the government continuously cautions against this very scam. You have to really stupid and clueless as to what's happening around you to fall for such a thing. Anyways I am glad he reached out for help to recover his money.
