ABCD 2 Monday (Day 4) Box Office CollectionsRemo D'Souza's ABCD 2 is on a dream run at the domestic box office, as the film has passed the Monday test' with flying colours.
We had mentioned in one of our previous reports that if the film holds strongly on Monday, it would enjoy a long and successful run at the box office. That is exactly what has happened as the Varun Dhawan starrer is likely to collect around Rs 8.5 crore on its first Monday in India.
The film is almost certain to cross the 100 crore mark and should also set the record for the highest first week collections in 2015. The 4 day total now stands at around Rs 55 crore and the first week business should easily cross the 75 crore mark!
The southwest monsoon was expected to affect business in the Mumbai circuit and parts of the Mysore circuit, but it has had little or no impact on the collections of the film. The Ramadan period has affected collections in muslim dominated areas, but the extraordinary business at other places has more than made up for it.
To put things into perspective, the first Monday collections of ABCD 2 is around the same level as the opening day collections of Tanu Weds Manu Returns' and higher than the first day business of Badlapur' and Tevar'.
ABCD 2 is already a major hit and could go on to be a super hit or even a blockbuster as the film has 3 open weeks before the release of Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
The industry also has its third back-to-back hit during the Ramadan period, which was previously not considered to be a good time to release films. But with the success of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' in 2013, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' in 2014 and now the spectacular run of ABCD 2 has ensured that the period will now be considered favourable for film releases.
