^^^^ Of course all symptoms may not be prevalent. That's the reason people don't get treated unless and until it starts affecting their daily activities, which happened to be the case with your friend.
From what we know from media, sounds more like a case of working his quirky image, voluntary actions. Anything to get the people talk about him. I would say more of a histrionic personality disorder. Then again most of us share bits of these personality disorders. So unless and until it starts affecting our lives, not much to think about...
