I only said because of problems messing with a guy as senior and powerful as this can lead to.

Otherwise none of them are saints.

I lived in Jalandhar during the days of emergency and the aftermath. Everyone knows this man's contribution to the darkest period in India's history.

It is a fact that Sikhs always protest against him when he goes abroad. Sometime back he was to be invited by Cambridge University or perhaps Oxford, but it was only due to pressure from Sikh groups and his pathetic record, they had to cancel that invitation.

US, Australia courts have slapped summons to him.

There was protest in Punjab when he played a Sikh in Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyon.

I now understand what it was all about.

Dude Genie, you know a lot of details about AB's scandal. Yeah, I remember my Dadu telling me how AB shouted-Khoon ka Badla Khoon-on Doordarshan. He knew he has an influential fanbase and he did that on national TV. Look at the hypocrite squirming now, saying ZOMG BUT CELEBS CAN'T SHARE TEH WOES OF TEH COUNTRY. Like W*F are you smoking? How does this man get away with such serious participation in genocide and such horrible scandals? He really should've been a politician except he is not even articulate enough unless it comes to worthless movies.
Disgusting.

Not addressed to you. But there were quite a few with their own agendas on the bandwagon to defend the man. Some were Aish fans and some Katrina's. I myself am no fan of Deepika but if a relative newcomer snubs one of the oldest and most respected in such a way, one just wonders what the latter must have done...

Then why do people worship him??
Sorry for using this word, but the outrage over Deepika not inviting him was pretty much making him to the best thing that has happened to India. 😕

I'm hearing he killed people even.:/

AB sounds pathetic when he goes on to justify and defend the industry. Why is he even speaking for the industry?

Except he is.

And his excuses we do so much that the media doesn't talk about

Hiding behind causes and charity to make it seem how wonderful they are and how the public should be grateful for them. When they never stand up for the public. They really do live in their selfish bubble supporting one another.

Politics is fascinating in general and this whole era from 80s-90s is very mercurial.

His mother Teji B was very influential and worked the right circles , was pally with Indira and thats how he made in-roads with Gandhis. They all grew up together. How else you think his brother and he were part of a high profile defense deal. Ajitabh ran for London and he had to face career slump.

This man is shady through and through. He just gets away because he has dirt on other influential people. But he has a history of dumping people once their purpose is served.

@Bold- Then why did he decide to contest elections? Or why is his wife a sitting MP? If that is not for solving the woes of the country or addressing it then what is the purpose of an office which is meant to serve the common man. Why does he shoot those campaigns then? Tax benefits right?

He has aligned himself with SP , that itself explains everything . What a loser. And then he gets the civilian awards, jeez how effed up is that.

These days almost all stars have political backing. Rajiv Shukla is the new Amar Sigh. But they are just more careful than AB Sr was back then.

Worshipping is due to general fascination that people have with stars. Plus his public conduct. He will behave in such a way that you cannot think he could do wrong. He advertises charity, his visits to mandirs, he will put up pics celebrating festivals, show off respect to his babu ji etc.

Plus media was controlled then. So people either didn't know or forgot.

He is wealthy, powerful, well connected. He did have success as actor and on TV. So people buy that fairytale of man going against all odds, becoming superstar etc. I admit I also gave him benefit of doubt all the time.

I learnt only later what he is. He even got DD to show only his films in 90s, on TV. That's why some of us growing up in that era got fooled. He does have that voice and personality that is heroic onscreen.

So people choose to go by that persona than boycott the guy. Same for the fascination with baba and bhai! Or that pervert Raj Kapoor!
