It should not have been allowed to reach Golden Temple at all.

Truncated your post.

Why was this terrorist and his coterie invited to live in the temple premises? On top of that he loaded the temple with all kinds of arms and ammunitions with the support of civilians (Temple authorities).

A common tactic of terrorists is to hide in a densely populated area and attack establishments. So on counter attack when innocent civilians are killed, the world blames the establishment and sympathizes with the terrorists.

Civilians can't dictate when and why a leader should take action. Maybe there was some inside info on the terrorist's next move. It's the civilians who cause riots, loot, support terrorists and then blame govt. Who looted and raped Sikh homes? Govt.? If adult voters claim to be innocent puppets then that's sad for any country.

But I believe IG should have taken heed to advice. She should not have let it fester to reach that point. She should have been more tactical and timely. That's all.

There's a reason why till date so many debates and books come up on it from all quarters.

I blame everyone equally. But I expect better from a PM. Obviously I won't expect anything from a terrorist!

No matter what, bodyguards took it personally and unloaded their guns in that lady's body. The communal angle was right there n then.

If Mahatma Gandhi's killer wasnt Nathuram and a muslim, there wud have been bloodsheds all over India. Thank God,

PPL react to such incidents very drastically, mob mentality has no brain only just an aim.

Riots are not human nature. This is the sentence that put me off! It figures repeatedly in your posts!

There is NO excuse of killing innocent Sikhs for acts of few.

In fact there is no excuse to kill and stereotype any group as a whole for acts of few.

Riots don't happen because you want to protect your family! How can you say so? This statement is shocking.

In no place, for no community, are such actions justified. Fact is they were state sponsored. Tytler, Kamal Nath, Sajjan Kumar got goons and let them loose.

Goons are brought in such situations. Ordinary people get affected. Main Tera Hero has pointed put stuff very well in previous pages. Still your posts seem to portray riots as natural which just seems belittling. It is also appalling to say the least.

And sorry but what AB said was wrong in an already charged atmosphere. Angry outburst like this on national TV, got a young boy arrested after Mumbai blasts in 2008. Action was also taken against channel for airing it.

This is how things function.

Such a comment can be taken in any way and just incites violent mobs further.

I didn't want to get into a political debate here but I was shocked to see curse words used for one of India's finest PM. Anyway, our writing essays here is not going to change history. 31 October 1984 and Sikh genocide after that are saddest events of independent India.

Govt stooges like Sajjan Kumar, Tytler etc let goons loose.

They had exact list of Sikh addresses.

Please think. Ordinary persons can't obtain this much amount of phosphorous and petrol to go about and kill people.

Please read more about it. It is a request.

It was not just ordinary people killing Sikhs. Infact many Hindus and Sikhs saved each other. It was state sponsored goons.

Bhindranwale was NOT INVITED to live in Golden Temple. He took over himself.

Civilians didn't support him of their own accord. He coerced them by putting guns on their heads!

What can a Granthi do if heavily armed men come and take over?

No one sympathises with terrorists here. I don't know why you repeat this despite clarification!

BTW Indira Gandhi was given advice by her close associates, intelligence agencies, bureaucrats. The advice which she ignored. I am also not naive to say ordinary civilians were telling her what to do or not!

The 1984 riots are not at all just a natural reaction alone.

It is human nature... worst part of human nature. But it is. A cop shot a black teenager dead as he thot he was carrying gun, but he wasnt. The riots went on n on that american city for days and weeks.

In my own small town Bardoli (Sardar patel's Karmabhumi).. in 86, petrol bombs were thrown from a mosque onto celebrating Ganapati Visarjan crowds.. and riots. Not to mention more muslims were killed than Hindus. My uncle used to have beard and he was stopped by Hindu mobs.. and he recited Gayatri Mantra to prove hez Hindu and they let him go.

Who r those ppl? They r all amongst us. As good as we r in peaceful environments, we the human can be monsters when we r under threat... Us vs them.. mob mentality.

Like itor not, its a part of human nature.

@AllBlacks

Government stooges sending goons with weapons, phosphorus, petrol and giving them list of Sikh addresses is not human nature.

No spin justifies this.

It was dirty politics. Not something "natural".

It is shocking how lightly you put it.

^^ Humans have the potential to be the best as well as worst thing that could have happened to planet Earth .. period ..

Mob mentality is indeed one of the worst human traits which shows its ugly face every now n then , the scale or magnitude might vary but it is pretty much a part of the collective human nature..

P.S. it doesn't mean such cruelty is justified ..

P.P.S .. post limit over , will catch up later .. 😆

Forget AB!

I am just shocked how such genocide is being put lightly as something natural!

Not surprised.

Victim blaming happens all the time.

Now I see why there is no justice.

Why such clean chits...

1984, 1987 or 2002, clean chit. It's all justified. Because it was "natural".

How can people take individual crimes like rape or murder seriously if even crimes involving massacres of groups are also just human nature?

That is why I wrote "Thank you IF" in signature. Quite an eye opening experience.

That talk aside, government stooges encouraging mobs, bringing goons, supplying them with weapons, phosphorus and petrol and exact list of Sikh addresses is also wrong and a crime.
I am only talking about their specific actions.
