I'm quite ignorant about the topic so won't get into the details, but personally think it's a huge accusation to make and one that hasn't alleviated with time. I remember when he came here to London, to carry the Olympic torch, some people from the Sikh community shouted, 'murderer' at him...

All I can say is he's a huge douche to extend support to Salman time and again with Aish as his DIL.. no wonder her relationship with her in laws seems like a total farce/PR activity.
And lol, film fraternity= family? Where was he and his wife, the self pronounced patrons of veteran actors, when Achala Sachdev died in penury.. and so many others like A K Hangal who they said they helped only after coming under scrutiny.

THIS!!!

These people such fakes...poor AK Hangal died such a miserable death...I remember seeing the documentary they did on him...poor man...😭...and to imagine that he must have worked with every powerful and rich celebrity...i remember after seeing that documentary i didn't even know what to do...and I tweeted to Shahrukh and practically begged him to help Hangal and said that may be if a superstar helps him others will too...but no one helped him...and then to imagine the same Shahrukh and AB Sr siding and protecting a CRIMINAL and calling all this bullshit about it being a FAMILY...no only the rich and the powerful of BW r family...others can die and no one will bat an eye lid...these celebrities are such losers...and man I can't get it...how people can see them and still fawn over them😕

But to be fair to Nikki ...those words don't look like aimed at a community but those two BGs...I can understand though that how it could have been misinterpreted easily when tempers were running that high...AB Sr was a fool to have said anything like that at all in that situation...period...he was a fool if he didn't think that a language like that could incite people at that time even if he didn't mean it about the community...

See, as I gave examples or some recent cases.

This is a criminal offence.

Even if done in foolishness or after losing temper.

One should know how words might be taken when situation is already tense.

And believe me BI, I stopped taking celebs and media at face value precisely after this.

It made me feel deeply ashamed, ignorant and foolish. I cross check sources on everything now.

Be it celebs, news or any other matter. Believe me it was appalling to see how much discrepancies go on.

I am guilty of ignorance on many matters in past. Hence I steer clear of fan/hater stuff of anything now.

You have a conscience, beyond favourites or affiliations.

I am talking about AB not just as a Sikh but on a human level. This is wrong. No matter what.

There are ways of behaving in public and certain caution to be taken when in communally volatile situation.

Rajiv Gandhi's tree analogy was absurd and 1984 pogroms is one of the saddest in Indian history. I'm not condoning AB but celebrities are human too. Their words can be misconstrued. Amitabh Bachchan was clearly talking about punishing the bodyguards who killed Indira Gandhi.

Nothing justifies 1984 massacre the same way nothing justifies killing of a strong leader. Indira Gandhi may be many things people accuse her of but she was one of the able and strong PMs India has ever seen. Politics is not a child's play. To tackle serious situations, sometimes govt. has to take not so popular actions. I support gunning down of terrorists. No sympathy there. If terrorists hide in religious places, schools and densely populated areas then they're scums. Jingoistic views are myopic.

India is multi religious, lingual, culture country. It's impossible to please everyone. Every community, state feels discriminated. Blaming everything on govt. is not a solution. If not for elected govt. then do we want military rule?

@Quixotic

I see your point.

This is why I said you can believe what you wish.

I also told you I reacted on certain other points and denial of evidence, listed here.

But you are right, these things can be hard to believe if one has not seen such side before.

So I leave you to research it yourself.

I also learnt only after looking up and going beyond just media.

Didn't the US initially fund "Bin Laden" ? How is that hate? Something that is completely different from what you have previously known might sound outrageous at first? Again I cited books and stuff? While I was quoting someone else who had a similar narrative. I dont believe I was forcing my opinion on anyone. As someone else mentioned she had a political agenda? But if you chose not to believe I would respect your views!

Like I said I find it hard to digest, and it is not at all common knowledge and there is not enough legit proof! That's it! Done! Bye!

Sorry but one cannot excuse such dangerous words as just human, angry outburst.

These things get people arrested even now as I gave examples. It constitutes inciting tension in already volatile and charged situation.

We are not justifying IG's assassination.

You cannot please everyone. But you cannot afford to be tactless either or let situations go out of hand.

IG ignored all advice to her on handling this situation. Her close aides had advised her against hasty steps.

She should have ideally arrested terrorists when they used to roam freely. Bhindranwale even gave interviews freely! Why allow it to happen?

It should not have been allowed to reach Golden Temple at all.

I am not giving jingoistic views or sympathising with any terrorist. Neither is grumpydwarf.

Apparently women were being raped in the golden temple when the shootings happened, bhindrawala was a bad person and action was taken! End of story!
