But I'm so miserable after watching the movie for only one reason- How could Manu go on with the wedding even after seeing Tanu in so much pain?( Tanu's expression in Ghani Bawri song just breaks my heart into pieces) When u love someone, u cannot stand seeing them in pain, nothingelse matters-n here it would have been endless had he gotten married to Kusum as he was about to. Well, Manu Sharma turned out to be a different person than I wud want him to be in this matter. Still will continue to love him.

TWM is one of my favorite movies-one of the main reasons being Madhavan as Manu. For the above the reason I'm a bit disappointed in TWM2. I really want to see happy romance between our couple n we have been deprived of that since the prequel. Not fair. Hoping for a TWM3 with lots of sweet n happy romantic scenes between Tanu n Manu :)

If Manu made me sad n angry, Raja Awasthi made a soft spot in my heart. Wish he doesn't have to wait another 4 years for his marriage😳

N everyone it was so nice to read ur reviews :)

Manu was definitely breaking inside seeing Tanu. Rmb Raju will ask Manu to give up the marriage when they catch him looking at Tanu. It was pretty obvious Manu wanted so much to get back with his Tanu. Unfortunately he had already promised Datto and just couldnt break her heart. He was worried for Datto. I guess thats the reason for his decision to go ahead. Till Datto herself released Manu from the emotional turmoil. Manu and Tanu both are egoistic and selfish and are flawed, which is what makes them relatable and very endearing. I love Datto too, and would want a part 3 with Tanu Manu playing cupids to Datto and Awasthi. I still have a spft corner for Tanu and Manu. I think thats the achievement of Rai and Sharma, for they way they wrote the two flawed characters and still making people fall in love with them and also two innocent characters whom we also end up rooting for. Rarely such things happen. None o the characters written by Rai and Sharma, be it Manu or Kundan or Zoya or Tanu/Datto or Awashti, none of them are one dimensional characters, they have both good and bad. This is what I love most from Rai and Sharma duo.

I understand n agree with u😳 I also understand Manu's turmoil but it's just that my idea of love(which i admit may not be practical) n his didn't match, n he is my favorite character(biased coz of TWM n Maddy😉)-so i was disappointed. It's my fault more than his😳 And also its because of Kangana's expressions in that song that made me sadder at this, kudos to her👏
We definitely need more of TWM, there is so much that's left to see n I'm already missing them
Thanks for the reply😳 It made me smile, i was so sad otherwise😛😆

These 11 Pappiji Dialogues From Tanu Weds Manu Returns Will Crack You Up!

May 28, 2015

In just a week since its release, Tanu Weds Manu Returns has become one of the most successful films of 2015. Lead actors Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan are too busy thanking the film fraternity and audience for their compliments. However, there is another person who is on cloud nine these days. Yes, we are talking about Deepak Dobriyal!

Deepak, who plays Pappiji in the film has been lauded for his comic timing and intriguing on-screen presence. It would be wrong of us if we forget to mention Himanshu Sharma here, and all thanks to Aanand L Rai for getting him on board for the dialogues. After ignoring all the minor errors in the script, the film is a sure-shot hit already and Pappiji is one of the reasons.

If the first dose of funniest dialogues from the film made you laugh, here are 11 of Pappiji's dialogues that are so funny that they'll stay with you for longer than usual!

1. More aashiqui = More pollution?

2. You can't have severe commitment issues unless you're Salman Khan. Get it?

3. Colony-wala love.

4. Pappiji is very clear with his priorities, okay?

5. FYI that weird looking toy that makes a funny sound when you press it is Peepni.

6. When you are beaten for stalking a girl, this might just sum up your pain too well.

7. For knowledge related to hips you never really wanted.

8. Because, screw English.

9. When you know death is imminent, some prior arrangements always come handy.

10. The next time your cab-guy overcharges you for that extra waiting, this might just work.

11. Serious food-combination logic.

Tanu Weds Manu Returns review: unusually spiky Bollywood romcom

4/5stars

Kangana Ranaut shines in this entertaining and slightly unconventional look at marriage which takes swipes at elitism and potshots at patriarchy

Kangana Ranaut in Tanu Weds Manu Returns Taking swipes at elitism ... Kangana Ranaut reprises her role as Tanu

At the opening of Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) says of her husband of four years: "I think I love him, but I've stopped liking him. I like him like a mammal."

It's a sentiment that's surely recognisable to couples the world over, and a nice starting point for a sequel to a romcom that ended with the promise of happily ever after. The story picks up again with two people who want to slit each other's throats in a way that can only be inspired by the grating annoyance, drudgery, and pent-up resentment of cohabitation.

For me, Kathleen Turner said it best in War of the Roses, "When I watch you eat. When I see you asleep. When I look at you lately, I just want to smash your face in." But Tanu makes a pretty good go of expressing herself, too. She leaves her husband Manu (Madhavan) in London and heads to her family home in India, where she rebuffs all attempts at reconciliation and tells anyone who'll listen, quite rightly, that marriage for the sake of making something happen in one's life is a terrible idea.

It's only when her husband develops a new love interest (also played by Kangana Ranaut, sporting a fantastic crop this time) that the film veers away from the heady joy of a woman escaping a stale relationship to something more conventional. But even within this conventional setup, there are glimpses of something new and interesting taking place here.

Both Tanus are formidable (as they say "strong women") and infinitely human. Tanu Weds Manu Returns doesn't seek to overthrow patriarchy with its desire for a tidy ending, but it still shows up some of its ugly hues, with one of Tanu's suitors feeling he's entitled to try to destroy her for not returning his advances. It takes a swipe at elitism with Tanu mocking Manu's girlfriend's social status, only to have her confidently inform Tanu that she helps run her house and has got into college on a scholarship while Tanu has never worked a day in her life and considers it an achievement.

Even given the formulaic nature of the third act, with its witty script and superb performances from the principals and supporting cast, Tanu Weds Manu Returns accomplishes something no other major Indian release of 2015 has achieved - it's terribly entertaining. With few exceptions, this has been a year of pointless, derivative action movies or bloated, self-indulgent offerings from auteurs seeking to make terribly important films. What one has been missing is someone perhaps with smaller ambitions, someone seeking to make just a good film, like this one.

Tanu Weds Manu Returns: Funny one-liners replace heavy dialogues in Hindi films

In an interview after Raanjhana's release, writer Himanshu Sharma had said he writes keeping in mind the origin of the actor in the film and try to bring the essence of the place in his lines.

Tanu Weds Manu Returns movie review, Tanu Weds Manu returns review, Kangana Ranaut, Madhavan, Anand L Rai, Tanu Weds Manu reviewAnand L. Rai's 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns', starring Bollywood's 'Queen' Kangana Ranaut, has earned Rs.38.10 crore in its opening weekend.
Written by Nishant Shekhar | New Delhi | Updated: May 28, 2015 9:22 pm

Remember the audition scene in Rang De Basanti (RDB) when Karan (Siddharth) is rehearsing a Bhagat Singh's line-Mai Jaanta hoon aap meri shaadi karana chahtey hain par maine apni jawani desh ke naam kar di hai, meri dulhan to Azadi hai. Aapka aagya kaari beta Bhagat. The dialogues appeared so heavy for the actor that he ends up saying Kaun baat karta hai re aise'. Well that was not just a scene in RDB but perhaps a lesson for the newage filmakers to do away with the trend of heavy dialogues that once ruled the industry.

Remember the era of 70s and 80 when Dialogues by Kader Khan' in casting roll used to be a formula for success. Most of the epic lines by Amitabh Bachchan, then, were penned by either Kader Khan or the Salim-Javed duo.
The likes of Gaddari ke zameen se nikley makkari ke paudhey' and sapney aksar samudra ki lehron ki tarah haqeeqat ke chattan se takra ke bikhar jaatey hain'were considered mature-writing and had its takers in cinema halls.

But audience taste gradually changed post Dil Chahta Hai (2001), and movie buffs of the internet generation found it difficult to relate with the complicated lines. They now wish to hear their favorite actors talk original on screen.
The grand success of Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Raanjhana, Dum Laga ke Haisha, Vicky Donor, Piku or Gangs of Wasseypur can be attributed to the dialogue writers of these films whose brilliantly scripted lines left a lasting impression on audiences' mind, even after coming out of theatres.

In an interview after Raanjhana's release, writer Himanshu Sharma had said he writes keeping in mind the origin of the actor in the film and try to bring the essence of the place in his lines. Remember, Kundan from Banaras saying Humarey Uttar Pradesh me ladkyiaan sirf do tarah se patayi jaati hain. Mohalley ke laundo ka pyar aksar doctor engineer utha ke le jaatey hain.' Sharat Kataryiya who directed Dum Laga ke Haisha believes audience should go nostalgic seeing his films and its originality and that can be done only through tight screenplay.

Well, Himanshu is back again and has hit the right chord with the sequel of Tanu Weds Manu (also written by him). The Anand L Rai-directed film is one of the trending topics among movie buffs these days. While the leading lady Kangana Ranaut and supporting cast are getting rave reviews for their powerpacked performances, the dialogues penned by Himanshu have acquired the status of no less than a hero. Not only Kangana, the funny one-liners from the film have made a huge impact on social media.

Some funny lines from Tanu Weds Manu Returns:

* Saaley ko original bhi yahi rakhey, duplicate bhi yahi rakhey

* Humko ek baar ghodi pe chadhna naseeb nahi hua, ye saaley ko tab se ghodi pe hi ghum rahey hain

* Sharma ji, hum jara bewafa kya huye aap to badchhalan ho gaye

* Eent se eent judni chahiye, cement bhaley Ambuja ka ho ya JK ka
