Swades is one of the highlights of SRK's career...a film to be proud of. It didn't do well at the box office but definitely wasn't a failure like these other movies.

I never said it was bad. It's one of my favorite Shahrukh roles up there with Khabhi Haan Khabhi naa.

Same way Shah's fans were happy he took a risk with Swades, RK fans are happy he took a gamble with BV. Just to watch him grow as an actor and expand his abilities as an artist is worth it.

Aamir and AG's dream project was Lagaan. Not MP or Swades. And Laggan was a success.

MP was the biggest opener of its time, breaking first day, first weekend and first week records of all time. It wasn't dead on arrival like BV.

Ra One also managed to do 100 crore and isn't a washout like BV.

MP and Ra1 are underperformers but not total washouts.

On topic, I guess makers get too carried away with their own dreams and whims, get too indulgent and stop thinking about anything else which is why dream projects often fail.

But you can't say dream projects always fail. Mughal E Azam was a dream project and it was an ATBB. Lagaan was dream project and superhit.

Desperate?

Since when did these films become dream projects? 😆

Aamir did Mela just for his brother. There's not a single interview of his where he called it a dream project. Anyway it did open well and wasn't dead on arrival like BV.
Even shit like that film opened well.

AB did Mrityudaata out of desperation. He was signing anything just to repay debts! You call it dream project? 😆

Neither have I heard SRK calling Paheli his dream project.

Himesh does films for a lark. His name in this list is a joke.

Probably because sometimes the film makers vision is difficult for we as audience to understand or accept.
Or sometimes when film makers compromise with their vision and try to go with the set formula.

There can be quite a few reasons actually, but its ok. All a part and parcel of the work.

Andaz Apna Apna was promising but not a dream project.

Its production value and poor release are proof of what a dream project it was.

Producer, director, distributor, actors, all fell out. They themselves didn't know how this film was completed. The film was out on home video and cable TV before its release in theatres. Nobody knew when it was released. Nobody knows how it came and went because of the limited and poor release it had. Its reasons for flopping are completely different!

It was not like usual films that get released properly but then get rejected. Even media and its own cast didn't know when it came and went. They were assuming it could be shelved. 😆

Your desperation is amusing.

Calling films done earliest in career, films done to repay debts, films done as favours for family or colleagues as dream projects! And calling under performers as failures. Disaster means dead on arrival. Even a shitty film like Mela was not dead on arrival FYI.

Atleast try to look up about the past before spamming the thread with list of dream projects that failed.

Even you know that BV is a dream project while Besharam or Rocket Singh are not. You also know difference between a film that opens well at least, and is not dead on arrival itself.

Mera Naam Joker and Kaagaz Ke Phool are legit examples.

So should be films like Siddhartha, Utsav. 😆 Kapoors have quite a lead in failed epic, dream projects.
