Gabbar Is Back will be relying on a big start as the genre is front loaded so if that big first day number does not come it becomes an uphill struggle.
There is the advantage of a holiday for May Day which is a big holiday in Maharashtra as it is also Maharashtra Day. Also these South remakes fare best in this area but the problem for Gabbar is Back is that Marathi film Time Pass 2 will also release. Time Pass released early 2014 was a huge hit and Time Pass 2 has a huge advance in some theatres of Maharashtra.
Also when its a holiday the number has to be that much bigger as you are going to come down the next day so if Gabbar Is Back does a 10 or 12 crore opening that won't be enough for the film. To score it has to be Akshay Kumar's biggest opening day and it remains to be seen if that happens.

Q. Will the poor performance of Baby affect the business of Gabbar and how is the advance booking?
Ans. It should not affect much with the only issue being is film is against fight against corruption and Baby was fight against terrorism so some can see similarities but the promos look much more exciting than Baby where they were dull so that will not be any reason for a dull performance. Advance booking is just for the big holiday event films now other wise there is no practically no advance in the major centres.The film should open better than the last few Akshay Kumar starrers though a hit song could have really helped it.
