DB gave me the same vibes pre-release that I got from Lootera. For that movie too everyone was calling it epic and comparing Ranveer-Sonakshi to epic pairs like Raj-Nargis or SRK-Kajol.
I think both Lootera and DBB were pretty good but killed by overhype by its makers.

haven't watched DBB though... yes, there's no doubt lootera was slow in the 1st half... but i have to admit it's a nice movie, i liked it...great songs... i am not sure if DBB is at the same level as Lootera... Ranveer was no name back then, it would have made few crores more for sure if it had released after Gunday.

For BV, all my expectations have been ruined so far... also my worry is the movie is an expensive movie and it might not sail far enough...
i m hoping amit trivedi song does well...
at this point, i fear it's gonna flop... (tanu weds manu moving to 21th gonna hurt a lot)
BV's not bad, songs, trailer... but it's not good enough for such a big movie
The only hope is RK's movie wait from fans will sail it through 100 cr.

i am writing this here because in BV thread, i cannot write it... fangirls will think i m rk hater😆... they just like to dream, don't like the reality this movie is facing 😆...scorpio doesn't bother at least..

Strictly going by trailer BV and DBB have the same issue...period film where are normal to good looking actor is made to look ugly/bad. While audiences do like period films...we dont like to see actors made to look bad in the name of period films. Apart from that BV is a lot more expensive than DBB. At best it will do business like Bang Bang.

If it does business like Bangbang (170+), then to no problem... budget ranges around 110-120 cr for BV... it will be a hit at 170 cr+
but u know how hard is it to reach those figures, Anu is no katrina... songs are soso till now..
movie doesn't look like anurag kashyap movie but karan johar making action movie...
opening day will be helped by ranbir but after that, audience won't waste money after day 1.

Lootera was so slow...DBB ain't that slow. 😆
Lootera was an Okayish movie ...don't know what's so epic about it...both had the same problem...audience might not have enjoyed the movie much or something.

I personally enjoyed the movie, so I'm not that disappointed per se

I am not really surprised by how the movie fared. I wasnt blown away with the promo, and really felt that 80-100 cr figure was grossly overestimated. The general public wasnt as enthused with the movie as online junta. Still expected it to do around 35-40 crs given the subject. But it ended around 25. It could have made 5-10 cr more had WOM been good. But it has been bad not even average.

It's funny how a flop movie is assumed to be bad. 😕 The movie didn't work, doesn't mean it was a bad movie or something. Some things just didn't work out in favour of this movie. Simple.

Wom was mixed ...such movies require uninanimous praise to work and this film failed to garner a uninanimous 'wow' response.
