Ever since Rajesh Khanna breathed his last a string of negativities are being generated in the comments column of most articles about RK. The negativities are aimed against his wife Dimple, his professional competitor Amitabh Bachchan and against the media itself.
One allegation is that Dimple married RK for his money.
It was RK who proposed to Dimple who was reportedly dating Rishi Kapoor. If Dimple should marry a person 15 years older than her she deserves some handsome compensation for it which should be his property. If RK didn't want to give any compensation of financial security to the one marrying him then he could have selected one of the many women who reportedly swooned on seeing him.
Dimple deserves her respect. She left Asirwad when she could not get along with RK and that is her right. RK was an entertainer and not a saint. Whatever happened in his life is something that commonly happens in the life of cine stars and Dimple should be respected for her decision to live her life from a distance.
Dimple's reported relationship with Sunny Deol is another issue. If her husband who was reportedly in a relationship with his co star Tina then after separating from him, whom Dimple seeks as a companion need not be an issue as long as she isn't living under the care of the person whom she married due to his financial status.
Dimple began acting after her separation and later even went on to win the National Film Award for her performance in Rudaali. As long as she lived with her husband it was talent suppressed for ten years.
Some reported traits of RK are his obsession for power and addiction to alcohol. The success of Amitabh Bachchan is said to have affected RK due to which he reportedly used to go to the terrace of his house and weep loudly. No woman, who is herself disillusioned,is liable to remain with a person if he behaves in an insane manner.
In the comments column of most articles pertaining to RK there is a tirade against Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh did not shine the way RK did during 69 to 73 but he was known to be more punctual to shootings and more co operative.
RK is known for his arrogant behaviour. He reportedly threw tantrums and walked out halfway from shooting spots. If producers felt they had enough of RK and turned to Amitabh Bachchan then that is their wish and Amitabh Bachchan need not be blamed for it.
RK was late to shooting spots right from his first film itself. RK has mentioned (in an article named Echoes of an Era) that he cursed his career on day one of the shooting of Raaz because he was taunted for coming late by three hours. If a person curses his own career on day one then by doing so he is himself inviting ruin to his career.
Anju Mahendru had given up her engagement with a cricketeer for the sake of RK but RK did not marry her. While living with Anju itself RK dated Dimple and proposed to Dimple when he was in the midst of a quarrel with Anju. RK dropped Anju very easily. This is what Anju got in return for her giving up her engagement with the cricketeer. RK is known to have loved only himself.
RK is known to have had a weakness for teenage girls. He met Anju when she was a teenager. He proposed to Dimple when Dimple was a teenager. He reportedly misbehaved with a teenage girl during the shooting of Anokha Rishta and the mother of the teenage girl had taken the matter to the press. It is evident that the mother had to withdraw her statement because RK threatened the director that he will withdraw from the promotion of the film if the issue is not closed.
RK's last lover Anita Advani has also stated that he sexually abused her when she was 13 years old.
Another allegation is that media is not kind to RK. The media has been kind only to RK. He had double dated Dimple while he was reportedly in a relationship with Anju Mahendru and Dimple was reportedly dating her co star Rishi of Bobby fame. RK double dating a girl and snatching another guy's girlfriend has been kindly reported by the media as "RK swept Dimple off her feet". If media had not been kind it would reported this as "RK stole Dimple from her boyfriend".
After his marriage to Dimple when she would leave him and go to her home unable to stand his behaviour it was RK's media friends who would put up the pic of a sad RK (like the sad husband of Aap Ki Kasam) and present a sorry picture of RK to the readers due to which even till this day they are displeased with Dimple. Media has been kind only with RK and not with Dimple.
When Dimple delivered for the second time it is reported that RK didn't look at the child for months due to his being disappointed that Dimple did not deliver a male child. No woman who faces isolation from her husband for delivering a baby girl can get along with him by putting the past aside. (It is known that during his last days RK apologized to his family for his ignoring his daughter and tried to smoothen out his past fault it by purchasing his ignored daughter a BMW from the money he received from the fan advertisement)
Amitabh Bachchan is being targeted in the comments column of articles in the media about his creating hype and promoting himself as if it is a crime to do so.
We conveniently forget the part that RK was also hyped by gossip writer Devyani Chaubal by her love laced articles about him in her gossip columns.
If someone was known to have picked up the sand of his car and applied it on her forehead, Devyani would repeatedly mention that the mud of the feet of RK was treated as holy Sindhoor. She would hype the part of some ladies who wrote letters in blood to him without checking with other actors if they received such letters or not. She didn't publish any pic of blood written letters and her readers didn't care too because reading such hyped stuff was nectar to them.
If some lady threw a garland on RK's car, Devyani Chaubal would be quick to hype about ladies marrying RK's car. If some lady who was standing in the sunlight for a long time and watching the shooting of RK fell down unconscious due to dehydration, Devyani Chaubal would hype that ladies are swooning on seeing RK. The audience liked the nectar of hype and this promoted RK's image as a prince in a dream.
Devyani Chaubal has not revealed in her gossip columns as to where the ladies who reportedly married RK's car, swooned on seeing RK and wrote letters in blood to RK had been when the films Bundel Baaz, Maalik, Dil Daulat Duniya, Raja Rani etc. were released. Had those films not become flops RK would have remained sane enough to continue without his relationship with his producers/directors getting affected.
Amitabh spending on his promotion is a much more straight way than RK having promoted himself through the hype created by Devyani Chaubal.
When Devyani Chaubal was in her death bed RK never cared to visit her although he owed it to her for the promotion he had received through her hyped articles in film magazines. Her use was over and she was not needed by RK although Devyani had voiced out her desire that she he see her one last time. By not caring to meet Devyani even on her deathbed RK only proved that he loved only himself.
RK's co star Tina had reportedly lived with him for more than 5 years and she had finally parted from RK on realizing that his offer to divorce Dimple and marry Tina was only an offer and not going to become a reality.
After Tina left him, RK had mentioned in an interview that he did not divorce Dimple because he did not want to set a wrong example (as if living for 7 years with Anju Mahendru without marriage was a good example) for his children. Had he openly told this to Tina in the beginning itself then she need not have wasted 5 years in hope that he would divorce Dimple and marry her. It is clear that RK had used Tina with a false promise of marriage. In a chat with Shoba Dey Tina has remarked that RK could love only himself.
Although it is not necessary to bring out the other side of a demised person, due to the sympathy wave of demise some negativities are being rolled out against those who are living and these negativities against those who are living need to be neutralized in the understanding of reported facts.
It is good to love a person. But let us not forget our loving a person does not make him a saint.
