Saif did not ask for Padma, Centre can take it back, says Kareena Kapoor

While there's a huge row over the Centre planning to take away Saif Ali Khan's Padma honour, his wife Kareena Kapoor has finally reacted on the entire controversy.

Saif Ali Khan had been awarded thePadma Shri in 2010 for his contribution to Indian cinema. But a criminal case against the actor in 2012 for allegedly hitting an NRI at a suburban restaurant called for a huge controversy. Recently, there were reports that the Centre, was contemplating to take back his Padma honour.

Saif was arrested after his midnight brawl at a restaurant and the Centre had decided to strip him off his Padma honour but there has been no confirmations about the same.

When wife Kareena Kapoor was quizzed about the entire scenario, she clearly shot back saying that it was not Saif who demanded the Padma honour. It was 'conferred' to him for his contribution to Hindi cinema.

The actress, who is known for her unabashed straight forwardness, also added that the Centre can take the Padma honour back and Saif will be happy to give it back.

There have been no official announcements regarding the Centre's decision as of now.

I HATE how these tabloids sensationalize and take statements out of context to make them sound controversial.

Would it kill them to represent accurately?

I watched the video and Bebo said something along these lines:

"This has happened before when they were discussing if the Wasabi incident should revoke the award, but. But this honor has been bestowed upon him, he didn't ask for it. It's a national honor, they've researched well before giving it. But as far as how this incident affects it, Saif is pretty relaxed about it, and if they ask for it, he'll give it back."

What's his contribution to Hindi cinema? A flop star for 25 years? and how did he even got National award for Hum tum? 😆 Mate... jai ho.

Its just nothing of that. saved him. Not even Kareena. Padma shree and National award r looking cheap coz of Saif... I think its a mili bhagat of srk and Sunny deol. 😆
