Errr...I'm not telling you. This article is showing you.

Anyway, don't know why people have turned this into a "NO way Kareena gets paid more than PC, Kat, etc" debate. Accept it, move on.

There are more important points in this article. Such as...oh I dunno, disparity between male and female actors.

The reality is when economy and commerce factor become ONLY most important factor in creative then i think this disparity will always be there in hindi movies. Simple business says how much money (can bring viewer to movie hall) a male actor vs. female actor can bring to table in a purely commercial movie.

I think this disparity will grow on the basis of story , weightage and role of both actor and actress in a movie. When the gap is wider wage disparity will be higher and when those factor were narrowed down then wage disparity will also become narrow. Just like in art movies or commercial movies where both hero and heroine have equal weightage and role .

Here is another Kareena fangirl example. She says accept Kareena gets paid more than Dp/Kat and move on. Hahahaha you numbskull why on this planet a producer/director will sign kareena ahead of DP/Kat if he cares about box office collection? Kareena is past tense. Accept it and move on.

Says the blind hater who can't see the simple facts in this article.
You don't have to believe anyone. Just read. Read kid. It's not that hard. 😆

Oh and insulting me isn't gonna make you sound any more credible. Perhaps reading the article might. As for WHY? I dunno, go ask a producer then write an article about why she's paid that much, will ya? 😆

And yeah...umm...read, accept it, move on.

Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone reportedly command a '8 crore fee

Female stars get quite less compared to male stars who are not that established!

Hainnn.. creative industry and equal pay? On what basis? These celebs earn in Crores and we worry abt them? The article is bullshit coz nobody from BW ever disclose their wages.. as one can understand it wud change from movie to movie... the amount of workload to BO success. Its in the end a business... Creativity kicks off and cash registers end it. And its a fact, heroines dont have the BO pull like Superstar heroes. Heroines workload in a typical commercial movie is also much less than Heroes. So-called No1 Heroines "Finding Fanny" is out of mind but the flops of superstar heroes r ever remembered.
That;s the way it is. A lister heroines can do 3-4 movies a year and commercials to get their Crs, A lister heroes now aiming at at least one film a year.

I wud rather worry abt labourers where women put as much efforts and hard work as men and getting paid less.

Ask those BW heroines to join TV dramas, they will be paid more than their male counterparts in them. 😉

This is why the wage gap and several issues never get resolved. People are unable to see the big picture. Instead they selfishly focus on narrow issues that conform to their personal views and needs. Fans would rather hold all women back, rather than accept their favorite commands a lower wage. It quickly degenerates into which actress is most viable and worthy of raises.

Patricia Arquette made a compelling well spoken call for wage equality. However, because she is white and because she asked for other minorities to rally people have taken offense to it. LGBT and black people are saying they don't owe anything to white women. People are missing the point. She is asking wage equality for all women. This includes black women and LGBT women. While minority communities don't owe anyone anything, minority communities do need to be collectively empathetic to each others causes. They are all exploited by people in power by some way or another. It should not become a battle of who owns what whom.

THIS.

It's so shocking that people are so riled up over whether Kareena gets paid a tiny bit more than the other heroines, and vice versa, but no one seems to be riled up over the fact that the males are making quadruple the amount of money.

The article was about wage gap unfairness between the MALES and FEMALES. Not between FEMALE CONTEMPORARIES. So all you fans itching for a fanwar, hold your horses sheesh. Support whoever you want, but do acknowledge that even your favourite actresses is woefully underpaid compared to the actor she is working with.

Okay, the Khans and Hrithik getting paid more than the heroines is at least arguable - they have been in the industry twice as long as the women, and so have more experience, etc. (Let's put aside the ageist attitude where a heroine turning 30 is basically handed an exploding time bomb)

But come on! Ranveer making more than Deepika, and Varun/Sid getting paid the same as Kareena and Katrina is RIDICULOUS. This is where the argument of 'box office pull' and 'experience' that AllBlacks1 mentioned gets broken. Assuming it's true that whoever has the most pull at the box office gets paid the most, then Deepika, and especially Katrina should be getting a hell of a lot more compensation. The same holds true if you go by industry experience - Katrina and Kareena have a lot more experience than the newbie boys.

But see, they're not getting paid more, are they? Truth of the matter is that it is a male dominated industry. And the actors have a lot more bargaining power than the actresses. Simply shrugging and saying that the actors have more screentime/box office pull/experience than the women is not the answer. If it were that simple, Ranveer wouldn't be getting paid more than Deepika.

Even TV actors get paid more than actresses - Ronit Roy and Ram Kapoor charge way more per episode than Shakshi Tanwar. A simple google search will confirm this for you. And also, talking about the struggles heroines face does in no way undermine the struggles that labourers, or people in any other profession face. There will always be someone less fortunate, but that doesn't mean you don't fight about rights of people who have a bit more 'fortune'.
