We form an impression on the movie based on the trailer.

I doubt Russell was in that room either to know exactly what Aamir heard or read or watched.

Aamir is expected to be a part of the audience to form an opinion. Why aren't we expected to be in the same room as him to form an opinion on his judgment? How come we can judge him without knowing what was said to him, but he is not allowed to judge anyone without actually being a part of it?

Not sure why the rules are different for Aamir and others.

Subhash Jha sounds like the typical BW buttkisser where if a big star says or does something, it's blown up to be the best thing ever and nobody has any right questioning it.
They typically do this. If the star says one smart sentence, they're suddenly portrayed as geniuses. If they have a hit movie, they suddenly go to IIMs to give lectures on being amazing marketers. A rich star like SRK is suddenly made to sound like the biggest businessman on the planet.

I'm glad people that don't give a damn about the BW establishment and hierarchy of sycophancy are standing up and telling someone like Aamir to shove it. Good for both Pooja Bhatt and Russel Peters.
I'm not even gonna address or talk about Aamir's hypocrisy or lack of at this point. That's irrelevant to my point here. Aamir may or may not be a hypocrite.

But nothing will justify Russel Peters speaking about this issue. Not in any way or form.
Why can't Rusell Peters talk about the issue? He's a comedian and he sees fellow comedians being blasted with FIRs and having threats of jail time on their heads. Why on earth would he not defend their right to say what they want when the same restrictions would end up applying to him someday and many others if the AIB guys are allowed to be bullied into shutting up? He would be foolish NOT to respond.

As if that isn't bad enough, there are jerks like Aamir throwing themselves into the situation and moralizing about the issue in order to cash in on indian sentiments and indian culture's basic lack of humor and needlessly getting offended about every little thing. And the thing is, they can be as offended as they want. Who cares, be offended. But that doesn't mean anyone else has to change their behavior or stop their jokes. You being offended doesn't mean jack. (the general "you" nobody in particular)

And it's so rich coming from Aamir, the one who's used 'free speech' himself to push through vulgar lyrics like Bose DK and extreme violence in his movies to get an audience. He's made fun of a religion that almost a billion people believe in and many would consider the movie obnoxious. For him to insert himself into this situation in order to register his whiny complaint deserves someone replying back.

It was never going to be anyone from establishment BW because big stars always have a posse of chamchas and nobody lower on the ladder says anything. That's how BW works. Because of this, most of the big stars start thinking of themselves like some untouchable gods, kings and bhais, geniuses with more intellect than ordinary people, who have the right to "scold" others for their behavior.

It needed to be people that don't give a damn like Pooja Bhatt or Rusell Peters.

I think Stephen Fry says it best regarding the whole AIB controversy.

@ red : the opposite is also always true - when a big star says something , it is blown out of proportion & while they might get support from their ardent devotees , usually these stars are also blasted for speaking without thinking , both criticism as well as appreciation goes hand in hand & it is only justified that way..

Coming to Russell Peters , it is not a question of Russell having an opinion , he is perfectly entitled to have one (howsoever intolerant & ignorant he may be about Indian film industry & its artists) but it is rather the question of him insensitively disrespecting/offending Amir & the entire Indian film industry & its artists ( read this : Russell Peters: Will someone ask Aamir to shut up?" ) through absurd illogical statements...similarly , Amir is perfectly entitled to have an opinion about the show but whether or not he was being a hypocrite is open for debate.. Supporters can support Amir & bashers can bash him in the most brutal manner here but the same rules cannot be applied when one famous person is passing an opinion on another famous person or a famous industry on a public platform.. Russel's profession of being a bigoted stand-up comedian is not excuse for him to be hurling such nonsensical , disrespectful statements on a public platform..

And yes , whether you like it or not , SRK is a successful business man worth his salt..

--------------------------

Stephen Fry did a much better job .. 😆 .. i think what Stephen said about "being offended" is perfectly in sync with what Amir said .. Amir kept on insisting that he was offended by this brand of comedy & he can only appeal/request for it not to be repeated but he doesnt have any right or authority over these people .. moreover , Amir also condemned the 'witch hunt' being conducted on AIB since it is a dangerous thing & should not be encouraged in a democratic country ..

Stephen cleverly dissed on Amir's opinion without coming across as a insensitive bigoted illogical idiot like Russell ..
