You can continue to believe what you want mate (: All I know is Indira Gandhi issued orders, commanding her military force to invade the holiest place for my people, while innocent, unsuspecting worshippers were inside. Holy scriptures were destroyed, the gurudwara and the sarovar was defaced, there was ruthless slaughter of thousands of innocent worshippers. The media was put on complete black-out so the Sikh civilians death toll was downplayed, under-reported.

As for the Khalistan hoopla, I'm just going to quote this here, maybe have a read yeah:

Indian Hindu leaders at the time (Nehru, Gandhi, Patel) promised the Sikhs the same glow of freedom and didn't see any harm if a region in Northern India was awarded to them if they joined India but such promises never materialized and thus began the betrayal.

For years the Sikhs waged peaceful protests to make Punjabi a Punjabi language state, just like all other 17 Indian states were based on linguistic identities. In this process, they further took away Punjabi land and carved the state of Haryana out of it and gave other areas to Himachael Pardesh and some to Rajasthan on the pretext that Punjabi language is not being spoken in these areas.

The Sikhs then were hopeful that they would be treated with dignity. But what actually followed was discrimination against the Sikhs in every sphere of activity other than armed forces where they were used as cannon fodder in India's several wars against Pakistan, China, and other foreign assignments. New Delhi plundered the resources (food, water and electricity) of the State of Punjab for it's own use. It never encouraged any heavy industry in the state or nor allowed any infrastructure to be improved at the government's expense, while the rest of the country marched ahead.

When they sought justice through democratic means, a brutal reign of terror was let loose on them. Hindi was forced on Punjabis and during the last census the Punjabi Hindus declared their official mother tongue to be Hindi and not Punjabi in the state of Punjab. Efforts continued by many right wing Hindu organizations such RSS to declare Sikhs to be part of Hindus, a moot issue being deliberately revived once again lately.

Since 1984, Punjab police has been killing any Sikh supporting the Sikh cause. Rape was used as a tool to terrorize the population; killings, extortion and arrest without trial has been the order of the day since then. The 1984 pogrom against the Sikhs began with the slaying of thousands of young Sikhs in fake encounters that was justified under the pretext for checking the menace of alleged terrorism. Punjab has been a police state since then. It's indeed a black mark on India's secular image that few uttered a word against this continued violation of human rights of the Sikhs. An estimated 50,000 Sikhs are still rotting in the hellholes of India.

So yeah, EXCUSE ME, if we wanted back then, and now, a Khalistan. Jeez. You think it's radical and extreme to want justice, to get what we deserve and were PROMISED? Go ahead 🥱

Lastly, I don't give a f**k if the 'language' I use sounds similar to whatever, IN YOUR OPINION, I'm clearly saying I don't identify as an Indian, that's literally it. Aight gotta go now, keep hoopla-ing about whatever.

Punjab is peaceful atleast now, after instability till 90s. But what happened in past was wrong.
And no I do not support government action blindly. The tactical error and ignoring of counsel was there on IG's part too.
Plus the genocide afterwards was not at all justified. The culprits be it in state or their chamchas must be brought to book.

Even Sikhs know he was using Golden Temple as headquarters.

Watching Harmander Sahib attacked?

Hello! The attack happened due to him! They targeted him. Not like attacking the shrine was State agenda.

I brought in Khalistan because the group that filed this charge is a Khalistani group. And you said you do not identify yourself as Indian which is exactly the language Khalistanis use.

So if a terrorist is in a mall, governments should just bombarde the whole mall killing everyone inside?

This isn't about religion, this is about simple humanity. Its the most shameful act in Indian history in my opinion and you're the first person I've ever seen defending it.

Gandhi, chose one of the busiest days to bombard the complex.
She sacked the GOC of the Indian army, when he refused to give orders to go through with Operation Bluestar to his troops.
But most importantly, Bhindrawala was created by Gandhi herself.

As for Bachchan, there are many eye witness's who've claimed to him having said that. They have the timing down too, but lo behold, the tape of the telecast during that time frame is no longer available in the DD archives. Hmmm...

AB Sr is half Sikh himself...he must have had a Sikh Grandpa and grandma...he must have grown up visiting them and knowing them...I don't believe that he will say something about Sikhs.

Guess_who

I said in every post that IG's action was wrong. Bluestar is a foolish step. But all I am saying that it was reaction to Bhindranwale using the shrine as hideout. It's an unfortunate chain. Neither party acted with prudence.
Bluestar was bound to have consequences. Indira Gandhi was a duffer to think it would solve issues.

On Bachchan, HS Phoolka himself said there was no evidence of this. But his name was dragged due to closeness to Rajiv Gandhi. I trust him than this Khalistani Sikh group.

There is only 1 witness. Not many. Only that 1 witness account is being used everywhere.

Impossible that something was shown on DD and no one knows. Heck! People even remember jingles and ads from that time! How come they missed this including many Sikhs themselves?

Lastly people are free to check SFJ website and FB. You will see what propagandists they are. Always such discussion is lost in emotion and propaganda but facts are somewhere in between or lost.

I am not going to repeat myself again.

SIT has been set up. Better they decide. Enough of online argument on it.

I have had many discussions online with SFJ guys. I can see where they come from and how they still want to divide Sikhs.

Bachchan or anyone else, these groups hand in glove with Paki agencies openly on FB and Twitter, are someone who I would never take at face value.

They never let go of opportunity to make Sikhs feel India is not for them. Now even brought an article against AAP saying it is not good for Sikhs and its emergence in Punjab is not of value. God knows what AAP did to disturb them! These groups function with agenda all the time.

To add :

The day of the Attack was a Sikh religious day, Sikhs not only from the city but all over the world visit Golden temple since its the holiest place for Sikhs, and to choose only this day for the attack shows what intentions IG had.

My dad did visit Golden temple that day, but left around an hour before the attack, and he isn't any Khalistan supporter, what if he would have been killed?

Any action or decision that results in the killing of innocent is just PLAING WRONG!

That was State reaction to Bhindranwale's activities. Bluestar was a mistake on Indira's part.

But was it right on Bhindranwale's part to use Golden Temple as hideout?

All Sikhs do not endorse his acts.

I personally consider it a colossal blunder by both sides.

Bluestar was a reaction to anti State acts of Bhindranwale and his extremist group.

Anyway SIT on 1984 is on now.

Khalistanis are not innocent either. Rather other Sikhs had to pay the price for the acts of few.

Khalistanis hand in glove with Pakistani separatist groups says a lot about their intentions.

I am all for justice for riot victims. But Khalistan? Nope.

Spot on!!! Completely agree!!

@bold: What the hell are you talking about? Do u even know that Punjab was never for only Sikhs? Where did Sikh emerge from? The first born in Punjabi Hindu family was made as a Sikh... Sikhs and Hindus were never very different...Punjab is not just for Sikhs...its equally of Punjabi hindus living there...or even the Punjabi Muslims living there! Do u even know how much discrimination these ppl do against Punjabi Hindus in Punjab? My dad has grown up in Punjab, and all through this he was discriminated...Why? Because hes not a Sikh! In 1984 riots, he was also scared...he used to take his ID etc everywhere bcz he was a non Sikh in Punjab! I empathise with those Sikh families who were troubled and face so much! But excuse me you can't blame all Hindus for what political game a few Congress people played! My ancesstors were equally tortured, first they were thrown out of their homes...somehow reached border alive and settled in this Indian side...and on top of that they were forever called as refugees and among Sikhs they were discriminated..those living in HAryana were discrimnated by Jats... And even in Delhi, Punjabi Hindus are always discriminated, whether its education or jobs... All Govt jobs are secured either by Jats or by reserved category ppl... For all our lives we have struggled! On the other hand, Sikhs have only benefitted economically.. They have huge land pieces and because of Green Revolution they became so rich...Half of Canada is filled with Sikhs! But you know what/ Despite everything, I still respect them... I still go to Gurudwara...Bangla Sahib is my favourite place... And every now and then me and my family visits the Golden temple...ITs bcoz we dont keep that hatred in us! We never hate the Sikhs for anything...a few bad ppl doesnt mean that the entire religion is wrong... I believe and admire all the Gurus so much... their contribution to the country was so huge.. they all sacrificed their lives for us... lost their sons...were killed brutally...yet they stood up for all religions!

Edit: Ive talked to Ranbirs personally and i understand her POV...i never meant to offend any one from any religion...so apologies if i did😳

Agree...if Khalistan was ever made, again Punjabi Hindus would have been forced to leave their lands...or else suffer humiliation and discrimination like minorities do in Pakistan now!!
