Films being targeted to get publicity: Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan
Actor Aamir Khan, whose last movie PK got embroiled in multiple controversies before and after its release, feels that films have now become soft targets for publicity-hungry people.

PK, which portrays Aamir Khan as an alien, raised questions about religion and people's blind faith in godmen. Aamir was present at the 'Youth For Governance' event here. He was asked to share his thoughts about controversial films that go on to become hits.

He said, "When people like the film, then it becomes a hit. When we say 'hit', we mean people like that film. The only reason behind a hit film is that how good you have made it. And if you have made a bad movie, no matter how well you market that film, it's not going to do well."

Sharing his 'theory on films', Aamir said, "No matter what you do, you can't make a bad film work. And no matter what you do, you can't kill a good film. It works both ways," he added. Aamir further said that the film industry has now become a soft target for people who want cheap publicity.

"It is an unfortunate fact that nowadays, every film seems to have attracted some or the other controversy. There was a case of plagiarism filed against Rajkumar Hirani for PK. The person filing the case got his name on the front page, which is what he wanted. So, it has now become easy to get publicity," the actor said. Aamir also appealed to the media to investigate such stories appropriately when they appear, instead of following them and fanning them blindly.

To put it correctly- films that thrive on controversy to get publicity are also targeted by others for 2 mins fame.

So it proves that your comment on AIB is also for publicity otherwise you won'r waste your time talking about it 😆

I didn't agree with aamirs views on aib roast.. But I do agree with this..

Past 3 years we have seen movies that are being targeted.. First it was omg which was one of the greatest movies I have seen..next It was that kamal hasan movie and raam leela.. And now Pk and the aib roast
It is clear that these religious leaders want to control us.. Shove down their believes down our throats..they want to control what we watch and what we do.. PK was one of the greatest movies for me because it thought me to question these people..I will not believe or trust any mullah.. Pundit and Baaba..

In my opinion films thrive on controversy. Aamir has been greatest beneficiary of controversies.

He did not market PK. But that film was constantly in news thanks to controversy. He got plenty of sympathy also.

I also disagree bad films do not work and if a film has worked it means it is good. Bodyguard, Dhoom 3 type films are not good. Yet they worked.

Nobody remembers groups that file cases or protest. But films do get to make national and prime time headlines otherwise they remain limited to page 3 news.

Dude!!! I don't think even you yourself believe this. In the last five years alone there have been plenty of crappy movies that made loads of money. Unless he's getting away with his own definition of what is a hit. It still doesn't explain bad films making money and some good ones not. Again I don't think he really believes this, he's just saying something contradictory to his previous stand (His comments on Black and KKKG) to make a point about PK.

As for the rest of what he said, how ironic considering his recent remarks about AIB. Though to be fair he was asked about the AIB thing. He didn't go out of his way to comment on it. But as a fan I would have liked it if he hadn't commented since he hasn't seen it. He was ill informed and came across as very judgmental and a hypocrite.
