Shah Rukh Khan will be given seven days to demolish the ramp, which is being used to park his vanity van.The BMC will issue a notice to actor Shah Rukh Khan to demolish the illegal rampconstructed outside his bungalow Mannat' in Bandra Friday. Municipal Commissioner Sitaram Kunte issued an order on Thursday to this effect, days after MP Poonam Mahajan wrote to him on the illegal ramp, which is causing major inconvenience to the residents.
According to a senior civic official, BMC will issue a notice under Section 299 of the MCGM Act, 1888. Khan will be given seven days to demolish the ramp, which is being used to park his vanity van. "In case of non-compliance, BMC will undertake the demolition," the official said.
The Watchdog Foundation', a citizens' group spearheaded by advocate Godfrey Pimenta and local activist Nicolas Almedia, too, has sent written complaints on several occasions to BMC, seeking action on the construction outside Khan's bungalow as it is obstructing the road for the public. The cement Road connects Bandstand to the Mount Mary Road and hence a large number of people frequently use this road to visit the Mount Mary Church, especially during the festival held annually in September."According to details provided by local citizens, there exists an illegal ramp on Cement Road (in Bandra). This ramp, said to have been constructed by one bungalow owner, is causing permanent obstruction to people accessing the public road. The ramp is known to be used by the bungalow owner to park his private heavy motor vehicle," Mahajan wrote to Kunte, in a letter dated January 29. Although Mahajan refrained from mentioning the ownership of the private bungalow, local residents, who have been protesting against the ramp for several years, said it was located outside Mannat', Khan's plush residence off Bandstand.
