Yup i enjoyed it coz it was guilt free - for me its the context & consent that made all the difference ..

It is disheartening to see Deepika being labelled as a hypocrite for her women empowerment stand because of her participation in AIB jokes , i just hope that someday people will start to give due credit to certain something called "consent" , it makes all the difference -this factor is so huge that it differentiates a guilt free enjoyable sex from a heinous crime called "rape" .. it is hypocritical to expect Deepika to "maintain" a certain "type of conduct" just bcoz she decided to stand up against what was wrong once upon a time.. very sad indeed.. i believe a proper moral compass should suffice to differentiate between right & wrong..

Thats gross. And its so stupid that such kind of jokes are lauded in name of humour and sexual openness. Sometimes I think when people dont have the creativity or talent to come up with smart, genuine humour or dont want to put too much effort, they take the easy way out. Make sexual jokes and innuedos and you will be hailed as funny, cool and oh-so-liberated. If someone finds them offensive or simply not funny they are backward and conservative. So its a win-win situation. Do these performers and celebs realize how desperate and wannabe they come across? Humour does not have to be gross and vulgar, it can also be witty, wry or subtle whatever be the subject.

@ red : i think thats just a personal preference & totally justified .. it is as justified as the people who dont mind gross out vulgar jokes once in a while provided none of the involved people are offended/exploited .. 😊

No I didn't. But apparently she herself did anyway :|

I also didn't like the fact that they made fun of skin color, and no idgaf if 'yeh Indian hai idhar chalta hai'; nor did I like the fact that they incorporated serious issues such as Ebola and ISIS beheading journalists, into their jokes.

Everyone had an opinion on it as this is the first time this type of show is happening in India.Though I personally dont encourage such humor neither do I enjoy it.
As far as the topic is concerned u cant expect deepika or anyone to stand up from their seat go to stage and oppose anything.U can only laugh.I think that is all about a roast.so I dont know what fault ppl on twitter(as u mentioned)found in her.she was there to support ranveer so as many bollywood ppl.as long as it is harmless nothing wrong.
FIRST YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF ROAST TO HAVE AN OPINION AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TOI INCIDENT

Why will Deepika give anyone a consent to make degrading jokes on women? Is she a representative of the whole female population?
If she has the right to protest against her cleavage being posted on the front page then even the public has the full right to voice their opinions against these jokes. Someone objectified women without your consent is wrong and a group of so called kewl and funny people cracked some degrading jokes on women in general with your 'Consent' is allowed? What logic! 👏

but Deepika is endorsing "women empowerment", yet she is laughing at the jokes sends a bad message.

It was a roast. Roast are not filled with knock knock jokes. Yes F bombs are dropped, sexual innuendos are made, heck sometimes they are not even innuendos. People's looks, weight, past, present, professional or personal failures are mocked at a public and stage setting. Those who agree to participate are fully aware of this and know what they are doing.

As far as Deepika specifically, I love the way Quixotic5 explained it so eloquently in the last page. I don't understand why she's considered a hypocrite. Because the jokes suggested that she has had sex? Just like she's a woman and has cleavage she's also an adult human being who has sexual relations with her boyfriend. Is it because some of jokes suggested at as a 29 year old woman has had more than one sexual partner? Seriously???

If you find these types of jokes offensive then that's fully your right. But I strongly disagree that the AIB jokes somehow makes her a hypocrite. Just because she has a sex life doesn't mean it's OK for a media publication to take a strategically angled picture of her cleavage and make it a headline. I feel like some of the arguments here basically supports the notion that as a woman you are either a virgin or a sexual deviant. No, No, and No!

First of all , the AIB event didnot differentiate between degrading jokes on men & degrading jokes on women ..i think that in itself was a statement .. the gross out jokes were made according to the context, the gender differentiation notwithstanding .. what i dont understand is , how can a roast event be labelled as something "offensive" to the entire female population ?.. 😕

What is all this male-female species logic ?.. 😕.. is it the twisted modern feminism talking here ?.. 😕 .. coz i totally dont get what happened here to offend the entire female species.. 😕..oh you mean like Deepika is also a woman & if she is participating in the event , she is forcing "all women" to participate against their will ?.. 😕 ..i think this is getting weird now.. 🤔 😆 .. is it because Deepika is now forever indebted for the support she got for TOI controversy that she should monitor her every move carefully ?

About the TOI incident , that was stand against exploitation & media taking inappropriate advantage of Deepika - the human being & the woman.. ..The roast event was laugh at yourself insult comedy where Deepika participated willingly .. its apples and oranges IMO .. still some people find the connection , nothing against them .. so be it .. 😊

As for criticizing the events , celebrities ..etc thats totally justified .. so by all means , continue to do so coz at the end of the day everybody is entitled to have their own opinions ..no issues there .. 😊

P.S. I am quoting & replying coz i felt like your post was directed towards me.. we have different POVs in the matter..lets just agree to disagree..
