Gafla - Film about STOCK MARKET SCAN

Having assisted both Vindhu Vinod Chopra and Subhash Ghai, director Sameer Hanchate knew that his first film would have to be something truly different. So confident was he of this script that he decided to product the film himself and also be an active part of the distribution process as well. As his film Gafla, the first film ever in Indian Cinema to look at a stock market scam, is set to release this Friday, here's is a sneak peak at the film; a film on a subject never before attempted; a film which looks at the stock market through the eyes of the common investor.

When an illegal act is practiced by a group of people which is against the law of the land and the governance is unaware…then it is called a 'conspiracy'…but when an illegal act is practiced within the awareness of the governance…which the governance not only encourages…but also nurtures…then it is called a 'scam'...

...in 'Hindi' it is called 'ghotala' or 'ghapla'...on the streets of Mumbai…they call it 'gafla'.

'gafla' is inspired by the much publicized 'Scams' in the Indian stock markets and financial markets, which have come to be the el dorado of middle class. Though there is much hue & cry about every scam, they remain a mystery.

The film tries to examine the issues of ethics and morality in this Machiavellian world defined by winners and losers rather than good & bad.
