Idk its in my nature to be innovative . That and being able to touch my nose with my toungue are my skills 😆 😆

Anyway who says he's trying to prove anything . Maybe he works cause he wants money or likes working . Who knows he probably works to get away from Jaya 😆 😆 😆

As for legacy, I think if he never gives another hit for the rest of his life he'll still leave an amazing legacy. Had he retired with Paa it would have been sentimental, but it wouldn't have made his legacy, his place in the hearts of his fans, and his prestige in Bollywwod any more meaningful than if he retires ten years from now.

He said in an interview years ago that after the bankruptcy he faced in the 80s or 90s or whenever that was, and having to go to Yash Chopra's house to beg for work, he developed a fear of not having work. He is afraid of facing those rough times again. So I think peace of mind is one of the reasons he does this and by all accounts seems to enjoy it very much.

As for younger stars having motivation I kind of go back to my first paragraph. He's already The Amitabh Bachchan. If an actor is not motivated now to be the next AB then him having retired 5 years ago wouldn't have made a difference. This one way of looking at it. Another way is that his work or job status is irrelevant as there will never be another Amitabh Bachchan, ever!!! There are others who are very successful now and are the number 1 or top 3 or whatever. But even if AB had been retired none of these people would have been another AB. That probably won't change for generations to come.

you have some good points. But he does have his son and bahu to support him for money now 😆

Regarding his enthusiasm, I feel that the enthusiasm he used to show in his films before has been missing in these last 5 years. I remember thinking that he was not up to his usual mark in Satyagraha. The enthusiasm he usually shows in his films seems missing now, and I think age is probably the biggest factor for that!

His legacy is so great that I don't think 5 years of not so amazing films will dilute anything honestly..he keeps reinventing himself and keeps marching on. He's like one of those people who will keep working till the end and that's great. He gets films written specifically for him, he plays lead roles, gets interesting characters (even if he has few slow years that he himself admits, he bounces back somehow or the other)...he has respect, he doesn't really need much else today. I get what you mean by ending on a high, but who knows maybe another high is around the corner...and even if not, he has done enough for people to admire him in some way or the other, even grudgingly. 😆

I think it's more psychological than financial need, or perhaps even pride. He still is the patriarch of the Bachchan household.

He's an inspiration to younger actors due to his longevity as well. Have seen few young actors saying he's the No.1 'cos he's still going strong after 40+ years in the industry.

Let's see if there is another high around the corner! He is THE Amitabh Bachchan after all, he can do it 😊

I do not think we are anybody to tell others to retire or how to handle their lives and career.
Amitabh Bachchan is already the legend. He has nothing to prove. He is beyond hits and flops. Movies, stage, TV, he proved himself everywhere. A few flops cannot affect his stature.

I and many others find it inspirational that he is still so active, alive and kicking till date and so excited about his work.

It is everyone's dream to die with boots on. Nobody should simply sit at home and do nothing!

Besides Amitabh Bachchan is still getting good offers from good banners, his KBC is still a success (14 years and still a TRP grabber!), he gets solid roles and not mere character roles then why should he give up? Not everybody gets offers. Most oldies get attention only at their funeral! It's Amitabh's achievement and speciality that he is not among those people.

I saw somebody's tweet to him the other day. She said he inspired her to live to the fullest. That's what his accomplishment is! His working till date is a positive sign. It is an encouragement to people.

I read his interview where he said he loved his work and constantly working kept him fit otherwise he felt sick at home. I agree with him. If one keeps doing what he loves, he dwells less on problems. It is far better to be positively distracted with work than sit at home looking at medical prescriptions or only relive old times.

That is also a point that he suffered near bankruptcy in 90s so he does not want such a situation to ever arise again and stays motivated to work.

I feel he should keep working as long as he can. It is thanks to him in many ways that better roles are being written for senior actors and seniors have greater acceptance both on TV and in films. That is a welcome change and will only help all actors in future.

Creative people are hungry and never stop. Lata ji and Asha ji still cut albums. They have not stopped singing no matter how much their voices changed now. It is upto us whether to lap up their work or not, we might get bored but they cannot get bored with their craft or give it up.

There should be no limits to work. Work is always a good thing whether it yields success or not.

Shamitabh may or may not succeed, but Amitabh working and promoting with such zeal even at this age is a matter of prestige in itself. I would only wish Amitabh and every senior artiste good luck and good health.

I do not agree. As long as one is getting good work and the thirst for work is there, one should keep on working.

He hasn't been active much in the past three years, but I am glad. Look at the content of the majority of the movies being made today; Bollywood is scraping the bottom of the barrel. I can't think of too many good BW movies I have last enjoyed. I have not driven to a movie theatre to see a BW movie in over a year (until PK released - which was again not a bad film, but no great shakes either) - not worth the long drive and wasted effort for crappy movies featuring stars I'm not invested in seeing.

Honestly, I would prefer Amitabh to sit out and wait for movies with good scripts even if the movies are not the usual blockbuster material.

nice topic !!

I want to see Amitabh in TV shows like KBC and some other quiz shows rather than doing same repeated father roles in movies...he is very decent in KBC and I think no one can replace him...

I watched KBC in my regional language with nagarjuna hosting, but it lacks the class which Amitabh KBC has..
