Ram Leela title had to be changed, MNS tried to gain political mileage by making an issue out of "Bombay" term in Wake up Sid, Jodha Akbar was banned in Rajastan etc. Haider and PK this year.

But that type of stuff happens everywhere . Look what happened to the james franco movie Interview

It's nothing but attention seeking

Its already a communal thing...people are less upset about why Hinduism has been targeted and more upset about why Islam and Christianity hasn't been targeted??😆

That's what makes them hardliners na! They refuse to see reason and use any available argument(in this case AK's religion) to propagate their agenda. If AK wasn't the lead, they'd have used different arguments but their agenda would have remained the same(scorp has given egs of other movies being targeted). But if a national TV channel's prime time debate takes such a narrow view about a controversy, it fans the views of those hardliners (for them if their opinion has been picked up by Times Now to debate upon that means it is justified at some level and hence correct). According to me such absurdities should at best be ignored and not encouraged in any way.

U know what.. this is called democracy.. if a movie asks questions abt Gods or religions... and ppl feel its should be the right way, then ppl also right ask question abt motives of movie makers. In some countries these kind of discussions r banned.
Popular opion is not always the right opinion. U gotta ask questions. Either to some1 whoz expert in that field or to urself.. ur soul where God lives.

@blue-ice : The issue is communal at a smaller level. Its restricted to few extremists who just want a reason to show their violence and aggression.

When you see at the bigger picture, its shows majority of people enjoying this movie featuring a 'Khan'. See? No Hindu-Muslim angle for the majority. No bad blood running in between.

But when you spark a debate on the basis of those narrow minded arguments nationwide while making sweeping statements and generalizations, the issue will for sure become communal. No doubt
Coming to Kamal-Hassan(as.you have already mentioned abt him) few Islamic groups started slamming his movie bbecause 'Vishwaroopam' had a scene hurting muslim sentiments. His movie was being banned and Government refused to release it in a 'secular' state like Tamil Nadu. During the whole controversy, the focus was only on freedom of expression and how unfair it is to the ban the movie( there the movie wasn't even releasing unlike PK which is reaping benefits right now) but nobody made it a personal Hindu-Muslim issue saying, A Hindu was being targeted or similar shit like that. It was always about Freedom of expression. Debates were initiated not speaking of a religion targeting the other but discussing the freedom of expression.

First we should separate it from public protest. It is not public protest it is an organised protest of fanatic communal group sister orgnisation of RSS VHP-Bajrang dal etc. groups. On ground level they do vendalise , destroy, intimidate people and who show this movie.

People having sympathetic towards those organisation started it in online campaign and on lookers took part as for or against that.

Regarding targeting amir"s identity as blue ice pointed out i partially agree. Those organisation always have a target to show , It is not an issue of Hindu - muslim, these are just some self claimed political religious organisation , for u and me may be Amir's identity did not count but reality is for them it counts. There is a reason why subramaniam says its ISI funded, there is a reason when they say this movie promote love jihad etc. So amir's identity is one of reason out of 100 , for us it might not be a reason but for them it is.

Movie are soft target as it give them publicity , media coverages so also everyone fearful from producers to hall owner , as they loose money . So every now or than some group or other claim it hurt their sentiment and resort to vendalism .

I never saw or heard anyone calling KH a traitor or asking him to move to Pakistan...the issue of Shahrukh became so ridiculous...that some terrorists actually offered him security...it was shame not only for Shahrukh but for all Indians...

These things do happen...like I said more for celebrities...and like i said before...It is ONE of the reasons for PK being bashed...
