The film was stupid but Ritesh rocked. He made up for the bad acting by Sid and that Shraddha

A lot of mediocre films become hits should I start listing off the last 4 Salman films? Quality of a film and the BO successful is never related in BW. 😆

That being said, I personally liked it because it was something different and hatke from what we're used to. It was a thriller that released between a bunch of rom-coms and masala flicks. Sid-Shradda new jodi with god chemistry, music was a rage. I don't think there was another track out this year that had nearly every single become a hit. Maybe Humpty Sharma. Plus, Sid has a HUGE fan following so that didn't hurt. Granted there were some messy parts but overall it wasn't a horrible film.

Movies become successful because of the overall package. You can never credit one aspect of a movie. So didn't become a hit because of Ritesh only- that was one of many reasons the film worked.

Shraddha had the a2 hype, Siddharth in a new avatar and then Ritesh in a brand new role. On top of that the music was the best we have had all year and in my opinion the biggest reason the movie worked was because of how much suspense the trailers and promotions generated.

Even though the movie itself was not suspenseful or thrilling - the trailers gave a completley other story

I think it was because of the music, the fact that it was being made by Mohit Suri - post Aashiqui 2 success, chemistry between leads, Sid in general, and definitely Ritesh's performance.

I had high expectations so the movie was average for me. But I liked that the storyline was different than all the other movies coming out at the time, which made it appealing to me.
