All the films mentioned in OP are a proof that Sallu doesn't need any good directors or scripts. 😆

Sohail wasnt involved in the dabangg series . As for Arbaaz , the sequel was a blockbuster . Abhinav had the best actor in the industry with him and no interference that he complained abt during Dabangg yet he failed

D2 was clearly inferior to first part. I'll give credit to Arbaaz when he makes BBs on his own rather than sequels based on iconic characters created by someone else.

Did Salman Khan direct Dabangg?

For now, only Abhinav Kashyap

Arbaaz Khan's Dabangg, starring Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles, is all set to release on Eid a few weeks away, but rumblings of discontentment already seem to be coming from its director Abhinav Kashyap.

Director hoga ghar pe. Yahaan Robinhood Pandey ka raj chalta hai! Salman Khan in Dabangg

Says a source, "Abhinav is upset with the way Dabangg has shaped up because the script that he narrated to Salman and Arbaaz is quite different from what is on film today. This is largely due to Salman's inputs. The actor wanted to go several steps ahead of his last hit Wanted, and contributed ideas."

Sallu knows best
It is learnt that the actor, who is now also writing scripts, is quite clear about what he wants to do in a film. When being directed by a newbie, he gives his two-bits because as someone who has been acting for close to two decades, he knows what works for his fans and what his audiences want to see him doing on screen.

On a TV show on a news channel on Sunday night, Khan admitted that he'd even helped with some of the dialogues. There have been reports of the actor directing five major action sequences in Dabangg, and Abhinav feels he won't get his due credit with such rumours circulating. Even during the Wai schedule, there were reports that the first-time director was disgruntled by Sallu calling the shots.

Unhappy director
Although there is a positive buzz around the film and it topped a poll of films people want to see this season, the director is sceptical. Says the source, "Abhinav has been telling some of his close friends that he's not happy with the way Dabangg has shaped up as its 30 per cent his direction and 70 per cent Salman's effort. But of course, he will never say it to Arbaaz or Salman as they gave him a big break and if a debutant director talks negatively about his film before its release, it will reflect badly on him."

Kashyap gets defensive when contacted, "You have calculated the percentage also? I think I can safely say you are 20 per cent mathematician and 80 per cent mischief monger!"

The Other Side
Producer Arbaaz says, "It's all rubbish. We have had a great working relationship with Abhinav. We have worked and given our inputs to everyone's mutual satisfaction."
When reminded that he has in his interviews talked about Salman directing major scenes, he adds, "Salman is a huge star and it's my production so he and his inputs are always welcome. If he contributes as a star, an actor and brother, what is the harm?"

No he doesn't he has made super hits with Sohail , Sajid N, Aneez Bazmee and Arbaaz . Also note on Arbaaz he made Dabangg 2

Dabangg 2 raced past Dabangg

Besharam did not reach either . It tried but maybe somewhere on the race track it collapsed or something 😆😆

OT: Well, he's come a long way from that. I've loved him even when his films weren't doing that well. Wanted was definitely a turning point. Love that movie. Prabhu Dheva now making Action Jackson makes me feel sad.

Well, among many, who don't like Salman, say his movies just become BB because of Salman star power even though the scripts are crap while others, who don't like him as well. say his movies are BB because of scripts and everyone else but Salman. What doesn't change, is that all of them accept Salman and his success even though they don't like him. Well, in whatever what they rationalize his success and stardom.

I also liked Salman before Wanted. I wasn't his fan though. I was a big fan of SRK and still am. I kind of disliked Salman at one point before wanted, but his first gentle impression in a movie from childhood never made me hate him. So the likeness was always more than dislike. :P

I doubt more people saw D2 in theater than Dabangg. Only 3 I had better WOM in the last few years.

Heisenberg's point was that Dabangg rejuvenated Sallu's career. OP clearly mentions how his films weren't even getting good openings during that phase.

I don't get why people say Salman was nowhere before wanted because from what I remember, he was still famous and people were crazy which is why I disliked him at those days when he wasn't giving hit movies, yet always famous. I was a child though, and never knew his past ATBB movies like MPK, etc. I was a baby back then, so never watched those. 😆

I do agree with Tere Naam craze. God, it was crazy. People were going mad for his role and were cutting their hair for the same style those days. Many were just so sad watching the movie. Tere Naam was indeed the best. I wish he does another movie like that. I loved him as an actor from that movie.
