to figure out when they are acting and when they are being real.
The film industry is abuzz about a 'spat' or 'showdown' between
Akshay Kumar and Nana Patekar on the sets of Firoz Nadiadwala's
movie Welcome , which is being directed by Anees Bazmee . Now, the
spat could be real or staged depending on which side of the story
you choose to believe.
The incident happened last Friday at a Mumbai studio where a song
sequence was being shot on Akshay and Nana. The last portions of the
song were supposed to show some pushing and pulling between the two
actors. But to those around, it appeared that Akshay and Nana
engaged in a real scuffle.
A heated argument followed in which rude words were exchanged
between the two actors. And just when it appeared that Nana and Akki
were about to come to blows, the director, Anees Bazmee, called for
a break.
To the eyewitnesses on the sets, and even to the junior artists
dancing in the song, it appeared that Nana and Akshay fought for
real. But Anees Bazmee claims otherwise.
Anees says the fight between Akki and Nana was pre-meditated and
staged. Only the two actors and Anees and his assistants knew about
it.
Anees says the reason why he did so was to get natural reactions and
expressions from all the other artists, who eventually thought that
the fight was real and were shocked to see Akki and Nana in a
showdown.
The truth is Nana is known to be very co-operative and cordial with
his co-stars. Although Akshay has had some bad reputation of
interfering in the process of moviemaking, he has been keeping such
tendencies reined for quite some time.
Though the eyewitnesses and junior artists find it difficult to
believe that the showdown was staged, Bazmee says Akki and Nana do
get along very fine while working together and there are no negative
vibes between the two.
