Why the negativity about the box office collections of Happy New Year? 😕 15 crores (all versions) is not bad at all for Monday! Waise I've noticed that in recent years the films released on Diwali haven't done as much lifetime business as those films released on Eid period and there hasn't been a film released on Diwali that became highest lifetime grosser ever in recent many years, except for maybe Krrish 3 but we all know the controversy of that film's collections.
This was something I had mentioned in my prediction thread too, and that's why I said the lifetime collections will beat 3 Idiots and maybe Chennai Express as well but will be below Kick and Dhoom 3. Here's the link to my prediction thread http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4200274

Just look at the trend:

2009's Eid release Wanted had higher lifetime collections than all Diwali releases that year (Blue, All The Best, and Main Aur Mrs Khanna).

2010's Eid release Dabangg had higher lifetime collections than Diwali releases Golmaal 3 and Action Replay that year.

2011's Eid release Bodyguard had higher lifetime collections than Diwali release Ra One that year.

2012's Eid release Ek Tha Tiger had higher lifetime collections than Diwali releases Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar that year.

2013's Eid release Chennai Express had higher lifetime collections than Krrish 3 (according to BOI at least).

So, we shouldn't be surprised if this year's Diwali release Happy New Year has lower lifetime collections than the Eid release Kick!

Also, school holidays in India for Diwali are about 1 week long, whereas for Christmas period (when Dhoom 3 released) school holidays are almost 2 weeks. There is no doubt that for the youth of India, Dhoom 3 is a more youth appealing film than Happy New Year and thus, with the almost 2 weeks of school vacations, Dhoom 3 was bound to have higher lifetime collections.

Us SRK fans can relax as Happy New Year is extremely likely to collect 200 crores (all versions) in its lifetime total, because 15 crores (all versions) for Monday is not bad at all and the WOM amongst the public is more on the positive side!

And let me defend Aamir Khan here. I have said this before and I will say it again, DHOOM 3 DID NOT HAVE NEGATIVE WOM! If it did, it would have shown HUGE falls in its collections after its opening weekend. But it didn't. The film went on to collect 285 crores in India, and you can't achieve that with a Negative WOM!

And yes, Kick was liked by the audience as well, which explains it's huge lifetime collections of approx. 215 crores (BOI) and approx. 230 crores (producer's figure).

Kick's producer's figure is 233 crore...which mean HAILA...Salman fudged the numbers😲...hawww...18 crores ka difference🤣

When people are crying FOUL over 7 crores ka difference for HNY...i can certainly cry FOUL over 18 crore difference...right??😆

OK...just kidding...was showing the mirror to some😆...I know that none of the three Khans fudge numbers👏

😆

I also believe that none of the Khans fudge their numbers, and why would they need to? They are the biggest Bollywood stars in India!

Only time I have really felt there was fudging was for Krrish 3 and maybe Bang Bang now as there is 30 crore difference between producers figure and BOI figure.

@lakshmimata did you even read the whole post or just decided to comment? I think its the latter.

A commercial film's success should be judged on whether its profitable or not. SRK fans should be over the moon if HNY is a Blockbuster. Somehow, people expect every Khan movie to set new record after last year.

I am also hoping PK beat D3 record. But even it it does 200 cr, its a huge success.

I think people are overreacting and trying everything to bring the film down. HNY is still doing well and it will cross 200cr for sure.

Dhoom 3's WOM was definitely mixed. There is no way a movie can collect almost 300crs if it was rejected by the audience.

I believe the WOM is mixed with HNY as well. Which is good because many people thought the movie would be a disaster.

I don't know how many times I said this on this forum...that if people had not liked D3 then no way it could have made 285 cr...because to make that humongous amount the movie has to have repeat value...and if people disliked D3 why would they go and watch it again??😆...
