Imagine Bobby Deol as a tyke attending music classes to stir up a vocal storm! It's a lesser-known fact that during his teenage days the actor nurtured aspirations to become a professional vocalist.

However, all the efforts were in vain when he realised that his voice is not cut for it. Says the actor, "It's true that I wanted to sing and earn a livelihood.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the voice and I'm glad I realised it very early in life."

So when Suneel Darshan approached him with the role of a hardcore musician (in Shakalaka Boom Boom) Bobs Deol had all the reasons to lap it up. Since then he has been living the life of a music chandler on the sets. Talking about the film he says, "It's a musical that revolves around the lives of these two musicians and how engage in a battle of sorts. I play AJ who has little grey shades. A perfectionist who only wants to have the best records to his name."

Ask about any special preparations he had undertaken for the film and he says, "Apart from attending music classes during my school days I haven't really done anything. I remember singing hoarse during those classes."

Nevertheless, iTunes is what he's hooked to these days while downloading digital music and video files. "It's only through the iTunes that I became aware of so many genres of music."

Rock music surely tops his list followed by alternative. He further adds, "I have grown weary of dance music, trance and hip hop. Of late, I have developed this taste for mellow music accompanied by good lyrics."
