If 80% of an actress' filmography is filled with flowerpot roles, I wouldn't really call it versatile. Kareena took very few risks and very few of those risks paid off. She has pulled off very few distinct roles successfully. She was great in Jab We Met and good in Chameli, a few other decent performances which constitutes 10% of her career. The rest were either forgettable, or epic films like Main Prem Ki. I don't think ANY actress in the history of Bollywood has overacted as much as Kareena in that film and even others like Khushi, Kambakkht Ishq, Singham Returns. She really needs a good director to stop her from going overboard, which she easily tends to.

Coming to Aishwarya's filmography, I think it is easily one of the most diverse and versatile filmographies ever. And that's not because she has acted in Tamil, Bengali, English films as well, but because of the roles she portrayed in those movies. Of the 40 odd movies she has done, you wouldn't be able to see more than one or two flowerpot roles that she has done (that too at the beginning of her career). She is one of the very few actresses who can do both classical epics (Devdas, Jodhaa Akbar, Chokher Bali, Guru) or the contemporary cinema (HDDCS, Taal, Kandukondain, Raavanan, Sarkar Raj, Hamara Dil Aap Ke Paas Hai) or the commercial cinema (Jeans, Josh, Dhoom 2, Endhiran), or the niche cinema (Iruvar, Raincoat, Provoked, Guzaarish) with ease. The variety she has brought to the screen is commendable. And the fact that she has delivered top notch performances from the very beginning till the end shows that she could pull off most type of roles with ease.

Did I hear somewhere that Kareena would have shown SLB what a real actor is? Is that why he rejected her after her screentest for Devdas?

P.S. I have noticed that most forum members here are completely ignorant of the regional cinema. Not that I blame anyone because one is not obligated to, it is a Bollywood forum. But I would recommend one to be a bit more aware of the regional cinema, some of the movies there are really outstanding and far unimaginable of Bollywood's reach.
