Shah Rukh Khan and YRF are planning to release Happy New Year in around 5000 screens in India only and around 800-900 screens in overseas markets, making it the widest release ever for a Bollywood film by a long distance.

Yash Raj Films have opted for a very simple strategy. Every single screen/multiplex owners who wanted to showcase Happy New Year in their theaters have been given the opportunity after depositing a certain amount as Minimum Guarantee ( MG). The MG's are not extravagant and thus all the exhibitors are bound to make profits from the film.

The plan of Yash Raj Films - official worldwide distributor of Happy New Year and Shah Rukh Khan want the film to release in every A, B, C and D class screens across India. Before the release of Happy New Year, Bang Bang and Haider would be finishing their lifetime runs at the box office and there shall be no carry forward films. Therefore, every exhibitor in the Hindi speaking belt wants to showcase Happy New Year to reap in the benefits from the Diwali extravaganza. The screen bookings are still going on and the final number shall come out closer to release

Including Tamil & Telugu dubbed release Dhoom 3 has the widest release till now ( 4150 screens all India - 3800 + 350 screens in dubbed versions)

We checked with exhibitors from few territories to get a clear idea on this and we got some screen estimates which are as follows

Note :- Happy New Year will also have a huge release in Tamil and Telugu dubbed version in the southern part of India and those screens are included in total India screen count estimate. Even if the number does not get close to 5000 screens, the number of screens should be significantly higher than the likes of Kick and Dhoom 3.
