Correction:
Modern Hinduism is the only surviving major religion that has made mythos the focal point.
There are many philosophical and scientific aspects of Hinduism prominent during Vedic times that have been sidelined with the growth of "bhakti" marga in the past few centuries. There were ancient religions that had mythos as the focal point. That is why you see Christianity folding in symbolic rituals like Eostre into itself to absorb pagan populations more easily. There are still aboriginal and tribal religions that have their own mythos, spirituality, idols/rituals etc. It is just that most of us don't know enough about these belief systems. The modern world dismisses a lot as hocus pocus or witchcraft simply because they do not understand the mythos things are derived from. A Native American ritual to "appease the Gods" is no different in spirituality and meaning than similar Hindu rituals.
