Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty have joined hands for the remake of the 1989 superhit movie Ram Lakhan. The film's leading cast is yet to be finalized.

Filmmaker Karan Johar is set to produce the remake of Subhash Ghai's 1989 film "Ram Lakhan" in association with the latter's Mukta Arts. Hit director Rohit Shetty has been roped in to helm the project.

"Here's the big announcement! Rohit Shetty & Karan Johar, in association with Mukta Arts, present RAM LAKHAN in 2016," read a message from the official Twitter handle of Karan's Dharma Productions, Friday.

The original "Ram Lakhan" featured an ensemble cast that included Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, Dimple Kapadia and Raakhee. However, the actors for the remake are yet to be locked.

Ever since the news of a remake hit the social media, people have been suggesting the pairing of "Student Of The Year" actors Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra or "Gunday" stars Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor for it.

As much as Varun suits the role, Ranveer suits it double. I am fine whoever does it. My first wish is to see Ranveer do it.

i dont think it will have young starcast...the types of movies rohit makes is not for young stars...

i cant even imagine sid in a rohit shetty movie..

if its true i want arjun in anil role nd tiger in his father role..

isn't rohit also directing a movie with srk? how is he going to direct ram lakhan and srk's film at the same time? He will obviously film one first, and I assume it be srks film first.

They'd have to shoot this throughout next year which can be a hard task as Ranveer will be busy with Bajirao

i can feel ur wish 😆 but Rohit is busy shooting srk's next for 2015. This movie comes after that!
