Dhanush-Amitabh Bachchan's 'Shamitabh' to Release on 6 February 2015

Dhanush-Amitabh Bachchan's Hindi film "Shamitabh" is all set to release on 6 February, 2015.

"Shamitabh", directed by Balki of "Paa" fame, will have Akshara Haasan (daughter of legendary actor Kamal Haasan) making Bollywood debut. The film's music is composed by maestro Ilayaraja and cinematography is handled by P.C. Sreeram.

Expectations are huge for "Shamitabh" as Balki has teamed up with Bachchan for the third time post the success of "Cheeni Kum" and "Paa."

The film is Dhanush's second Hindi project, after the critically-acclaimed and commercially successful "Ranjhanaa," which hit the screens in 2013. Dhanush's performance won him accolades from all quarters and it remains to be seen whether the actor will be able to impress the audience once again with his role in "Shamitabh."

According to reports, Dhanush will be playing the role of a deaf and mute junior artiste, while Bachchan will be giving voice to him. The film's shooting, which commenced in February, is progressing well. It is expected to be Dhanush's first release of 2015.

The actor is on a roll with the success of his recently-released Tamil film "Velai Illa Pattathari" ("Unemployed Graduate"). The romantic action entertainer has turned out to be the biggest Tamil hit of 2014 so far. It is also one of the biggest hits in Dhanush's film career. Buzz is that the film is all set to remade in Hindi, but there is no official word in this regard.

The national award winner will be next seen in director K.V. Anand's "Anegan", which is expected to hit the screens by this year end. With two big releases in the pipeline, Dhanush is expected to hit a hat-trick at the box office.

Besides these films, Dhanush has reportedly committed to other Tamil projects - one with "Aadukalam" director Vetrimaran and "Vaayai Moodi Pesavum" director Balaji Shakthivel. There is also buzz that the actor will be doing a cameo in the sequel to Hindi film "Tanu Weds Manu."

This looks more like Dhanush's film than Amitabh's.
What the hell is "shamitabh"? Does this have any meaning?

They need to promote this movie well. All my favorite directors are making potential duds. DEI will end Habib's career.. Don't want to see same thing happening to Balki.

I like Ishaqzaade too; not as much as DDC though. I hope at least the movie (DEI) is good.

Dhanush plays a mute/ deaf actor or something in the film and Amitabh is his voice. It seems like they combined Dhanush/Amitabh's names.

Dhanush + Amitabh ---> Shamitabh (yes, this is the only meaning it seems to have, the Filmfare journo also wrote this only)

I really doubt how they are going to explain this in the film's story though unless they intend to use the same names in the film too.
