Tingu paaji took painstaking efforts to create this image of him being benevolent, crafty, perfectionist.
But tingu ji u r wht u r . Nonetheless much better actor thn SRK or sallu. But still not anywhere in star power.
Sallu has some fans who are fanatic to see the least. They are really fervent and I guess sallu ji is lucky tht way otherwise unki films mostly bokwaas hi hoti hai

With due respect it is SRK. Aamir has only 11 clean hits in his entire career and was not a force in 90s except for super success of Raja Hindustani.

SRK's even most criticised film like Ra one crossed 100 crore. He has more consistency and hits than Aamir.

He has constantly been in top 2 unlike Aamir.

But yes Aamir has an edge in last few years with record breaking successes like Ghajini, 3I, D3.

Fan following and popularity wise other 2 Khans beat Aamir anyday. Aamir is more known for content of films than having any following or craze for him alone.

Bold: This bit, I agree. It's more or less content which has worked for him. People associate him with good contented movies...So now it depends how one evaluates his popularity.

As for popularity, I just checked twitter. From the #s I have seen, Aamir is right up there with SRK and Sallu. May be IF doesn't have a good fan following, but may be outside is a different picture...
