Baba Siddique gets Salman, SRK to star in Karan Arjun sequel

Imagine Pakistan and India finding a solution to the Kashmir imbroglio, or Israelis and Palestinians burying the hatchet to become bhai-bhai. Well, it got a lot bigger than that. The Congress MLA from Bandra, Baba Siddique, has not only got SRK and Salman Khan to kiss and make up at the recent iftaar party he hosted, but he has also got them to sign on the dotted line for the sequel to their 1995 block-buster "Karan Arjun".

SRK and Salman fans wasted no time in expressing their glee and soon #BabaFevicolSiddique was the top trend, before being overtaken by #SRKSalmanbhaibhai and #SalmanSRKbhaibhai until Twitter, unable to cope with the frenzy, crashed. "We can handle only one Khan trend at a time, as of now. We'll soon treble capacity to absorb the combined onslaught of SRK and Salman fans," said Twitter CEO, Dick Costolo.

A modest Baba Siddique shrugged off the rapprochement he has pulled off, saying, "I just remarked nonchalantly that you guys better patch up soon and star in Karan Arjun's rebooted version before Ramu Gopal Verma goes ahead and does it with Ajay Devgn and some sidey. That's it. They took no time in blocking all their dates for the sequel.""

The third Khan and an estranged friend, Aamir, is so happy with this reunion that he has agreed to not only play a small cameo in the film but also produce it. Thus, Karan Arjun Return will be a joint venture under the banner of "Aamir-Salman-Shahrukh" or ASS Productions. This will be a true reunion of stars as the film will also see Aishwarya Rai Bachchan being cast in a double role, playing the love interest of both the Khans.

Both the Khans wanted Rakesh uncle (Roshan), who had directed the original Karan Arjun, to direct its sequel too but it is understood that he is very much busy with post production activities of "Krrish-5" (Krrish-4 is already set for a release this Diwali). So Sajid Khan will helm the magnum opus, after acceding to Aamir Khan's special request. "With blockbusters like Himmatwala and Humshakkals, Sajid has a stronghold in action and double role films and he is undoubtedly the best," Aamir, ever the stickler for perfection, confirmed to our correspondent Bay Waqoof Khan.

With Himesh Reshammiya, Ismail Darbar and Pritam all on board, ASS Productions are very optimistic about the music. Abhijeet and S P Balasubramaniam will croon for the sequel as well. The film will also feature an item number wherein SRK and Salman will be seen dancing alongside their long lost sweetheart, Preity Zinta.

The plot details are sketchy but here is the sneak preview of the opening scene: The story is now set twenty years later, with SRK-Kajol and Salman-Mamata dead (assassinated) and their garlanded pictures adorning the wall. Rakhi Gulzar who would have turned eighty by then will continue to wail plaintively, "Mere Karan Arjun Aayenge..." and God will listen to her prayers. Rest of the plot will unfold along predictable lines.

Meanwhile, India's bestselling author Chetan Bhagat is already crying foul, alleging he had narrated the script of Karan Arjun Return to Salman Khan during the making of "Hello" and that now he is not being given his due credit. While Salman has refused to comment, both Aamir and SRK have dismissed Bhagat's claims, remarking, "This script is so banal and silly by even Bhagat's standards that only Sallu bhai could have penned it."
