Top 16 Opening Days At Box Office In 2014, KICK On Top

First five months of 2014 went with out much activity at box office. 'Jai Ho' disappointed and medium budget film like '2 States' and 'Main Tera Hero' did good business. 'Queen' and 'Ragini MMS 2' were outstanding hits. Now with June starts the flow of big releases and potential blockbusters.

Akshay Kumar starrer 'Holiday - A Soldier Is Never Off Duty' scored at box office on its opening day as film collected 12.18 cr nett and went on to cross 100 cr nett. Then 'Humshakals' scored on day one despite bad reviews and collected 12.50 cr nett. This was 3rd best opening days of 2013.

Then dark horse at box office, 'Ek Villain' has blown away all releases and stands tall as 2nd best opening of 2014 with 16.72 cr nett day one. This is even bigger considering film's modest budget and rather fresh cast. As per screen average ('Ek Villain' in 2500 screens & 'Jai Ho' in 3800 screens), this is the no. 1 film of 2014. Film is also heading for huge weekend.

Now Kaan Johar's Varun - Alia starrer 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' has scored 7th best opening day of 2014. Film collected 9.02 cr nett on opening day. This is biggest opening for Varun Dhawan and 2nd best for Alia after '2 States'. Now biggest release of year so far, Salman Khan starrer 'Kick' has amended the mistakes of 'Jai Ho' with thunderous opening on normal working day and that oo in lean period of pre - Eid. Film collected huge 26.50 cr nett on day one from 4100 screens which is great. This is 4th best opening of all time and 2nd best non holiday opener.

Expected the opening collection to be 30 crore+,but 26 cr isnt bad at all given the factors like pre-Eid period,non holiday etc...The weekend collections would probably multiply,since majority of the audience loved the movie and even critics are showering appreciation...The movie has great WOM and the best critical acclaim for a Salman movie in this decade..Hopefully all these positive factors contribute towards Kick minting money at B.O during the weekend and the upcoming festive season 😃

Box Office: Kick becomes the Highest Opening Day grosser of 2014

The recently released Salman Khan - Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Kick that has witnessed one of the biggest releases till date has opened on a high note. The hype for a Salman Khan film definitely has converted into big numbers at the box office.

In this Box Office analysis, we compare the collections of Kick to other previous releases of 2014, taking into consideration only their Opening Day collections. Not surprisingly, Kick that has been vigorously promoted since the release of its first look has emerged as the Highest Opening day grosser of 2014 collecting Rs. 26.40 crores. With this, Salman's latest release out-beats his previously released film Jai Ho that collected Rs. 17.55 crores. With this, Salman Khan holds the top two slots for the highest Opening Day grossers of 2014. On the other hand, previous releases that made it to the Top 10 list namely Ek Villain, Gunday, Humshakals, 2 States, Holiday and others all drop a slot, making way for Kick right at the top.
