Lol whaaat? I find it hard to believe that you've never watched it. 😆 SRK is just amazing in some scenes.. You need to give the whole film a chance, much better than the junk of today. 😃

The general trend is to bash everything and everyone old. Like some people had called Amitabh and Rekha "not much of actors".
So even without watching the old one I concede new Devdas was the greatest ever.

New films are also trashed. Only 90s and 2000s films are greatest and actors, songs, everything from these decades are greatest. Everything else is junk.

Nobody calls Amitabh or Rekha bad actors. At least not on this forum.

I didn't 'concede' Devdas as the greatest ever and you don't even know whether I've watched the older version but you make that ignorant statement.

Never said new films aren't trashed. Just said it's better than most films of today and that such films are not released every Friday. That's just my opinion and you're free to disagree, but no let's comment on the idiosyncrasies of the member than the topic.

Well I just commented on basis of what I see in forums.
Generally DK version is considered the best.
I personally dislike this Devdas story and rate none version highly.
SLB Devdas became too..."cosmetic" in attempt to be grand. Some things made people laugh in theatre like Devdas being London returned.
Aishwarya's performance was good. And yes I like the ending a lot. I watched this film often just for the ending.

Oh okay 😆 The impact of the last scene would be much more once you've known the characters because you'll understand their feelings and probably empathize with them too. It is even more tragic then. I suggest you watch the whole film in one go. The film is about passionate love and what ego does to lovers and how it screws their lives. SLB is an artist. He shows it so damn well.

I'd say Dilip Kumar was a much better Devdas than SRK. BUT both Aishwarya and Madhuri were better than Suchitra and Vyjayantimala as Paro/Chandramukhi!

The ending of new Devdas was more heart touching and emotional.. Original one was cheesy! Aishwarya TOTALLY nailed that role and esp. the ending scene..whoever says Aish is a bad actress, should watch DEVDAS! Aish was breathtaking in Devdas! 👏

I personally think Devdas is one of the weakest written male characters ever . Anurag Kashyap's Dev D had the best ending for the story
