Ek Villain Saturday Collections

  • 0

Mohit Suri's Ek Villain has held up well on Saturday to take its 2-day net box office collections to Rs 32 crore.

The film is trending the way most big films do, single screen business slowed down after a good opening and multiplexes showed good growth for the evening and night shows on Saturday.

Sunday morning shows are off to a good start. Ek Villain should collect around 18 crore on Sunday to take its weekend total to 50 crore - which is outstanding for a Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor starrer.

The 2 day collections of Ek Villain is only lower than Salman Khan's Jai Ho, which released on 3900 screens as compared to 2500 screen release of Ek Villain.

The reports are good too, which should help the film cross the 100 crore mark in its second weekend. Ek Villain is likely to be the first blockbuster of 2014.

Ek Villain Box Office Collections

  • Friday - 16.5 cr
  • Saturday - 15.5 cr (approx)
  • Total - 32 crore

Saw the movie today. The show was housefull with many people returning disappointed as they didnt get tickets. I personally liked the film. The film had lots of layers in it esp Sid's, Ritesh's and Aamna's parts. Shraddha's cute act was annoying. The inspector's role was useless. Music was the best thing. I would have been proud of Mohit Suri's direction if the movie wasnt lifted without credit from another film.

My Review

Let me preface this by saying I'm not a big fan of any of the stars in this film, heck I despised some of them so I went to go see this movie for one reason or maybe two: To see what the hype is all about, and to see if I will swallow my pride and admit SidM has improved or will he forever be wood boy. Oh boy was I wrong about this kid, he's no natural actor but he's a method actor, which in my opinion is even better. I couldn't believe it was the same guy from HTP and SOTY, his voice, his dialogue delivery, his expression everything was immensely improved. -The scene where Guru goes after the little kid, the pure evilness in his eyes but seconds later how his eyes softened because he remembers he was once helpless kid himself. That scene is I think what sold me, I can't say I would turn into Sid fan girl, bad habits die hard but I will definitely look out for his future movies.

What I liked:

-Music- I guess this goes without saying

-Ritesh D I'm not as surprised as most people were, I'm a firm believer that any actor who can do comedy as good as Ritesh does, can do anything else effortlessly. He was incredible in this movie, and I hope he keeps experimenting.

-Sid M- This guy is going to be huge if he keeps picking the right scripts, I think what sets him apart from other newbies is the hunger he has, he wants to be different and that's probably one of the reason why he loves Ranbir's work. I'm looking forward to Motwane's project, I think if Mohit who is at best average director can bring out this, we are in for a treat.

What I didn't like

The Direction: Mohit Suri is one overrated director, I honestly believe if it weren't for the hit songs his movie would all flop. I don't even have a problem with the fact that he lifted many scenes from different movies but the story is clumsy. If you make something like Barfi, I can overlook the fact that you stole scenes but you steal and still produce shit? and don't even get me started on the suspense.

- Shradha Kapoor- I think the less said the better, the girl is talentless, nothing but a pretty face. The first scene where she is in the car is laughable, and her expression in the police station wow 😆this is a movie that would've suit Kareena or if they wanted younger Alia. I get her character is suppose to be happy and cheerful but she just annoys you with her expressionless face. I wanted Guru to just break her neck in that parking lot scene.

-

Overall this is one of the movies where the actors make up for the lack of story and make the film stronger with their performance. Watch it for Ritesh and Sid M's performance.
