I find it amusing when people say Bachchans got more positive image or gained more after Aishwarya entered their family! The Bachchans were always royalty! Amitabh was popular and winning honours internationally as well since 80s and he is god in subcontinent. Only junior B has additional feather in his cap besides daddy's name. Rather Aishwarya has gained more importance and respect ever since she became THE Big B's bahu!

She's all that and more.

She was never known for brilliant acting..and there was never a hype around her acting..so I don't know what you mean. The hype surrounding her was usually because of her beauty and stardom. No one ever said she was a great actress.

I don't think Aishwariya was ever recognized as a brilliant actress..she was always more known for her beauty. She's strictly average at best in my opinion. Even outside of India, she's known more for her beautiful face than anything else.

She has always sucked as an actress minus a few films in which she acted really well. I never found her beautiful either. I always found her to be fake and after her pageant title and international fame I found her to be rude and thought she let stardom really get to her head.

As Preity said recently 'no one has been a bigger star than her till now'

Aishwarya will always be known for her beauty above everything else. She might be an ok actress. Its the same as Madhuri,who will always be known for her dancing,even though she is a good actress.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was good in her time and did a lot of interesting projects. Her best films were with SLB (HDDCS, Devdas, Guzaarish), Ashtoush (Jodhaa Akbar), Subhash Ghai (Taal), Ritupharno Ghosh (Chokher Bali, Raincoat) and Mani Ratnam (Guru, Iruvar). I think her most underrated performances are Umrao Jaan (JP Dutta), Sarkar Raaj (RGV), and Khakee (RKS). The directors she has worked with are damn good for her time. I don't think Rani and Preity were verstaile as her, they stuck to Yash Raj and KJO. She did get critical appreciation for Provoked, but I feel that is a very underrated movie. I think she stayed away from the commercial cinema. Dhoom 2 was her only real masala movie. I think she attempted everything and did good for herself. Not many heroines got to do international cinema, Tamil cinema, as well as balance Bollywood. I am proud to be her fan and am looking forward to Jazbaa.

With makeup I think Aish is the most stunning actress ever..without makeup she's not that beautiful. She's one of those actresses that makeup does a lot for her face.
