I agree with you. But my point was that Aishwarya is not really versatile. About a year ago I read someone mention on JDJ forum that 'to be considered versatile, one not only needs to try different genres but be good at them too' so following that logic, Aishwarya hasn't exactly been successful in different genres that she has tried. I have watched her comedy and she is not good at comedy. Romance and Drama, she is good at. Light stuff, she isn't great.

But yes, versatile in the sense that she has tried different genres, I agree. A successful versatile actor? No, Aishwarya is not successful in each different genre that she tried.

Of course, all of this is my opinion😃.

So that only leaves Aishwarya R. B. and AB Sr. But then a jacket from a film festival comes to mind😉😆

( I love B Jr, he's one of the nicest people One can meet & a bonafide charmer, but it's good to be mean-- Makes the day a tiny bit fun. 😛)

I do think Ash is highly overrated for certain things and severely underrated for others. And things beyond her control over others.

IMO she is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. We may all have our definitions of beauty, but few would deny she is minimum good looking.

She is Miss.World, she gets fawned over in Cannes which tends to overshadow other Indian beauties. Not her fault, but it is what it is.

But that beauty of hers tends to blind people to her acting resume. She has a solid resume both in depth and variety including excellent work in regional films as well, Tamil and Bengali if I remember right. She also has worked in HW films, sucky films yes but few actors male or female have such a broad and deep resume as hers.She is a classically trained dancer.

As for her being the face of Bollywood, this is where I have the most problem with. I have personally met and talked with many older people from Russia who could barely speak English but who knew and sang broken Raj Kapoor songs with me because I was of Indian origin. There were faces of BW all throughout its history abroad, we just may never know.

Finally, though I may get dinged for this, being the Bachchan Bahu has severely limited her public persona. I do not presume to know what is going on, but she seems to be the dutiful bahu and wife and the woman who strutted with arrogance is missing when I see her now in public. At one point I did not like parts of the arrogant Ash because she could come across looking terrible, but compared to what she has become I want that woman back.

Everyone acted horrible in devdas LOL but I liked aish performance in that movie.

But she did better in her other flims. She was brilliant in provoked. She made me cry in that movie. And she was equally good in raincoat. I also loved her in Jodha Akbar, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Taal. So if she works with good directors then she can act well

Looking at the current actresses and the poor body of work they have, I think its safe to say Aishwarya is a good actress.

The thing with her is she picked risky films and at that time people were not really interested in. While her contemporaries were doing movies like Kabhi Alvida Ne Kehna, Hum Tum, Salam Namaste, or Jab We Met...Aishwarya was doing movies like Raincoat, Chokhar Bali, Provoked etc. Even later on, choices like Guzarish, Guru, Raavan, JA - they weren't the "typical" actress roles, she always chose DIFFERENT roles.

Her choices in films were rebellious, edgy and distinct. Of course she had some bad films a well, but her she was very DIFFERENT kind of actress.

I actually blame the industry for not capitalizing on her talent because I really believe she is STILL untapped.

i liked her in raincoat , i dont think she is gud actress n gud dancer , i know in dancing part i m d only one who think she is bad dancer but i think she is , dancer dont keep their back straight wen de turn , gud dancers r flexcible which she is not
