Story
Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn) has moved to Mumbai from Goa and he's working as a DCP in the Mumbai police. Now, he gets to face newer and bigger challenges, which he overcomes using brains and brawn. The sequel has been shot at real locations in Mumbai like the Makhdoom Shah Baba Dargah in Mahim, the Gateway Of India etc... apart from of course Hyderabad. According to director Rohit Shetty, "Singham Returns is not a remake. This is a new story altogether and is different from the Singham sequel down South."

What's the scene?
Some goons gatecrash Avni's (Kareena Kapoor Khan) salon and are hell bent on destroying everything. There is absolute mayhem
until Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn) arrives in the nick of time. A fight ensues...

AT RAMOJI RAO FILMCITY...
It's evening. Kareena Kapoor Khan is sipping tea. Marriage seems to have suited her. She's looking fabulous in a salwar-kameez. She welcomes us saying, "Thank God! The sun is finally setting. It was so hot in the afternoon." A mock-up of Avni's salon has been created for the scene. Ajay Devgn arrives and rehearses the scene in tandem with the fighters and director Rohit Shetty. Ajay asks the light man, "Am I at the correct place?" and adjusts his stance accordingly. The fighters start running towards Ajay as Rohit shouts, "Action!" Rohit isn't satisfied and calls for a retake. He explains the moves to the fighters and this time they get it right. We are surprised that Ajay can still do action with such ease. He smiles, "I am just 45. If you keep yourself fit there is no limit to what you can do. When you are doing heavy duty stuff you should take care that safety measures are in place."

Ajay is happy the way the audiences took to Singham. Yet Rohit, also his close friend, and he took time making the sequel. Says the actor, "We had to get the script right. Rohit took more than one and half year to write it." Ajay promises that it has nothing to do with the Tamil hit Singham 2. "It's different from the South film. When they started their film, we asked for their script. It was nice of them to give it to us. We decided not to go along those lines because we wanted to enter into a different zone." He says further, "Singham has the potential to become a franchise like Rocky or Rambo. Singham (his character) can be a cop at 50, at 60 too... and still enjoy cult status."

Director Rohit Shetty is excited about doing what he does best - the action sequences! "Singham Returns has a different kind of action than Singham. We didn't want to be repetitive," says the director of blockbusters. He has come to Hyderabad after canning some tough scenes on real locations in Mumbai. "It was challenging. But because of Singham we received huge support from the police force and from the Home Minister. We could shoot at places, which are usually inaccessible. We even shot at the Gateway of India, which was shut down for shooting since the 26/11 attacks."

We gear up for the next scene, which features Kareena's real-life make-up artist Pompy. He adds a comic touch to the proceedings. Afterwards, we speak to Kareena who's delighted to work with her favourite director again. "I have chosen to be part of the movie because this is a Rohit Shetty film. He has given me two of my career's biggest hits. He has written this role especially for me." Speaking about her character she says, "It's fun and aggressive. She gives full-on Marathi gaalis. It's going to be a shocker!" Kareena believes in adding her own zing to the masala films she features in. "I do get to do much even in the commercial films I have worked in, whether it's Golmaal 3, Bodyguard or RA.One. It was not like I was just there."

Talking about Ajay she says, "Ajay is one of the finest actors in the country. Besides that he is a dear friend. I've known him since Rohit was an assistant on Ajay and Karisma's (Kapoor, sister) film Suhag. Our relationship goes back to more than 20 years. I take his advice on many things." It's about 10 pm but they haven't packed up yet. Rohit, engrossed in his work, is not nervous about delivering another blockbuster. "If it won't work then we will start making the next film. And if that doesn't work then we will celebrate and then move on to the next. Life goes on..."

Rohit Shetty doesn't shave his beard when shooting.
Ajay Devgn has done all action sequences himself.
Singham Returns is the story of a cop and set in Mumbai. But there is no don or underworld in the film.
Kareena Kapoor Khan learnt Marathi on the set as she had to mouth gaalis in the same.
Ramoji Rao Filmcity and Goa are Rohit Shetty's favourite locations. He considers them lucky and shoots at least a portion of his films on them.

Rohit Shetty and actor Ajay Devgn became partners in crime on the sets of forthcoming movie Singham Returns when the duo decided to scare the crew members.

When they were on the sets of Singham Returns in Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, Ajay and Shetty played a prank. (Also read: Kareena Kapoor: Rohit Shetty is New Generation Manmohan Desai)

They planned the entire prank in advance and took a spot boy into their confidence. The prankster duo made the spot boy wear white clothes and told the crew members that the set was haunted and that there was a ghost on the sets, as it was a night shoot and quite deserted.

"Ajay sir and Rohit sir have been constant pranksters on sets. Once, they baffled and scared all of us by dressing up a spot boy in white clothes and making him behave like a ghost," said a source from the movie's production team. (Also read: Singham Returns is Our Tribute to Nation: Ajay Devgn)

"Also, they always tried to scare us by telling stories of the ghosts in our hotel room," the source added.

Singham Returns, which also stars Kareena Kapoor, will release on August 15. It is co-produced by Ajay Devgn Films, Rohit Shetty Productions and Reliance Entertainment.
