I am blessed, says Pooja Hedge

Mumbai: Pooja Hegde is the talk of the Telugu and Hindi film industry these days.

The actress, originally from Udipi, will be debuting in Telugu opposite Naga Chaitanya in Oka Laila Kosam and she has another T-Town project opposite Varun Tej.

Besides these, she has also been signed for a Hindi film opposite Hrithik Roshan, to be directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar. "I am really excited about my Hindi debut with Ashutosh Gowarikar," says Pooja, adding that her TV ad helped her land these roles.

"Sunitha, Ashutosh's wife, saw me in the advertisement with Ranbir Kapoor and she liked it. So she got my number through a friend and called me for an audition. That's how I got the role," says Pooja, adding that shooting will start in October. As there's still time for the B'wood film to start, Pooja is currently concentrating on her Telugu projects.

Pooja came to Hyderabad and met Supriya from Annapurna Studios. "Then we met Nagarjuna sir and director Vijayakumar Konda. They briefed me on the film and did an audition before finalising me," she adds.

Pooja says she already knows about the Telugu industry because of her brother. "My brother is a doctor who studies down South. His hostel friends are from the state and they all sit and watch Telugu films together. They would discuss films and he would send me messages about the industry," she says.

She adds that she has also seen a few Telugu films. "I have watched Leader, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and also my director's earlier film, Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde."

Talking about her character in Oka Laila Kosam, she says, "My character knows what she wants and loves her family." She adds that Naga Chaitanya is a wonderful co-star. "We had a lot of fun. He is a down-to-earth person." About her other co-star, Varun Tej, she says, "The first thing I noticed about him is that he is very tall and that he has power' in his eyes."

Talking about working with Ranbir Kapoor, Pooja says, "He is very focused. I loved his spontaneity." About her favourite Telugu actors, she says, "I like Allu Arjun and I have seen Nag sir since childhood, even in Hind, I like Venkatesh and think that Mahesh Babu is very good looking."
