OMG was not offensive. What it showed holds true for all religions. They did not just speak about Hindus. Didn't Paresh count all candles he had lit at various churches, chaadars that he gave at mazaars?

Fact is that true values of religion are forgotten and there is over emphasis on outward customs or quick fix solutions. And it is a reality that many babas and so called godmen are fake and turned it into a business.

OMG rather reinforces that God exists and He is good. At the end it did not leave any room for atheists and skeptics.

Some sections criticised it for taking a rather safe route in the end.

I think if rumours are anything to go by then PK is a risky film in a country like India. It's subject may not be as universally appealing as Raju's previous films. Some leaked pics from shooting of PK also caused controversy.

Maybe this is also a reason why Aamir wants to play safe.

OMG also had its share of controversies. PK has bigger names involved in it, and one of them a Khan, hence increased risk.

Talking of clash, I think apart from profits the older stars are also concerned about warding off competition from younger challengers. Or else they could face embarassment the way the mighty team of Lamhe faced embarassment clashing with Phool Aur Kante whose small team beat them black and blue at ticket counters! The possibility of a BV beating PK is remote but if risk can be avoided then why won't the powers to be avoid it?

@Krrish4U: Yup, only one time watch for me. I really liked the story/script of the movie. I have to like the acting too to be able to watch it a second time but like I said in my earlier posts, I don't find Aamir's acting organic and can't stand it.

Also, I had one major problem with the movie: female roles in the movie were too short, more like cameos. Either include them in the story fully (not talking about screen-time but the story-telling and the story itself) or don't include them at all. I understand that the story was about 3 guys trying to and wanting to live doing what they enjoyed but the female roles seemed like they were put in the movie just to satisfy a section of the audience. But, I did like the 'love story' in the movie. It was sweet and cute.

I didn't find the chaadar thing in the movie offensive, in fact, I was happy that it was pointed out that putting chaadars on mazaars doesn't get you anywhere. (there might have been more things but I watched OMG quite a while back i.e. 2013 so don't remember much of the movie)

I guess, what the movie was trying to show was that God exists but we, humans, ourselves have made these customs that were never a part of the religion itself and now we take these things as though they were the religion and if someone goes against that then they are called not-true religious people and we treat human beings, kindness, etc. as secondary and these 'customs' as the primary focus of the religion.

I agree with both of you.

I love 3 Idiots. But the weak roles of females struck me too. We never got to know what Pia's passion was. Did she really want to be a doctor or was only following her dad's wish?

And why was she marrying that price tag guy again after 10 years despite rejecting him earlier? Again giving in to father's diktat?

We aren't even told what Mona has studied. She's just a pregnant showpiece!

Finally I can't believe creative minds like Raju Hirani and Abhijat Joshi could come up with nothing better than balatkar and sthan jokes to convey message about hazards of rote learning! That speech was sexist, cheap and lame attempt to create humour.

As much as I love Hirani's films there's no denying he neglects females and their perspectives in his films and often caricatures all other characters except his leading men!

Business is cruel..period...

Any kind of business will look out for their interests first...They should have a tele-vision and look out for the probabilities of a business strategy going south...If Aamir is a GIANT in BW...of course he will use it to his advantage...10 years from now Ranbir would be doing the same to another newcomer...whining doesn't run businesses...smartness does...If you are not smart enough to market a multicrore project...make strategies for its release...then you shouldn't be making movies...go make documentaries...

And yes MONOPOLY is a part of a business...If a company is huge...it will try to monopolize and kill its competition...It happens with all kinds of businesses...and BW is no exception.
