Reading some of the threads here I got a bit concerned.
Bollywood and its negative impact on Indian society and women etc.

Personally I have not experienced Indian society. I never been to India. I was born in Australia. I don't think I will ever go to India either.

My grandparents came from India, the punjab. We are sikh. I like Ranveer Singh. He's Sikh.

I like Bollywood to a certain extent. The celebs, some movies, the entertainment, songs. More importantly it has given me an idea of India

On one hand there's Bollywood. Glitz, glamour, beautiful people, wealth. Yeah sometimes they have movies based more on reality and everyday situations in India.

On the other hand you hear India is filled with poverty, corrupt, inequality to women, high HIV. Some have said its pretty much hell on earth.

There are some here who have mentioned India is hell on earth and I can't really argue because I have never been there.

Surely there has to be some law and order. Abiding citizens, the educated and Indian members here enjoying life.

I know India is a third world country but is it really that horrible?

I hope the Punjab is alright. Heard they have high unemployment rates and high levels of drug abuse amongst youth.

All sad.

Anyway hope everyone is doing okay.

Sorry mate, you have to visit India in order to make your own judgements and not by what is portrayed by Media or movies.

Ranveer Singh is not Sikh. His last name is Bhagnani.
He is Sindhi and has proclaimed it many times in interviews.

His dada ji is Sikh. What is Sindh?

Like Dev Anand, whose real name was Dharam Dev Pishorimal Anand, Ranveer Singh also dropped his sur name to enter Bollywood. While many know that Ranveer Singh's real surname is Bhavnani, he shares why he chose to drop it from his screen name.

When asked, the actor revealed, "It's too long, too many syllables. Ranveer 'Singh' is short, crisp and can stay in your memory easily. Ran-veer-Singh-Bhav-nani is too long. It's not a saleable commodity."

When asked why he added 'Singh' in particular, he added, "Dadaji is Sikh so that's how 'Singh' came."

Alright, if you really wanna know then one thing, it can be the best place as well as hell on earth. Depends from where you belong to. And everything matters..money, social connections, caste, gender, religion etc. You wanna see heaven, you must have money, and everything will be absolutely fine, amazing and wonderful, but then there is always the other side of coin.
