YJHD also got a 19.8 cr opening on a non Holiday. Biggest non-Holiday opening ever. Also Besharam had very poor promos and terrible heroine. Only hype created was through Ranbir and aggressive promotions. Not saying he's bigger star than X or Y, but those are very good figures both for holiday and non.

i saw a bunch of Ranbir Kapoor movies on a roll after reading the reviews and on IF. I somehow don't think he moves me or makes me laugh. I guess each to their own, I never like Raj Kapoor either as an actor. But that is my taste. When I start forwarding the movie, I know its not to my liking. Neither are they paisa vasool entertainment, neither are they a DDLJ hindi movie romance, neither a classic like Pyaasa. I don't get his talent part...and Im just an audience but still...

- Rockstar (didn't understand anything in this movie...)

- YJHD (whatever, tired of friends going on vacations discovering each other and themselves trying to gain this holistic view on life and love...and priorities)

- Barfi (did not think this was the greatest movie or performance ever at all...)

I don't think any of the Khans are good actors either. but superstars they all are.

Khans or Hrithik have their bar much higher..

I agree with you, most of his movies like Rockstar, Barfi, etc I didn't like that much.

Did your watch Wake Up Sid and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the year? Those were some good movies and he was great in them.

no wake up sid...saw a bit and gave up. I don't have much patience for movies...loved the music.

Finally someone gave ranbir attention on this forum which has nothing to do with his exes or currents. Ranbir fans must be happy 😆

For me, he's a good actor with very good script sense and courage to experiment. He definitely has limitations (look at besharam, can't pull off a massy role), can be overshadowed (very mediocre in yjhd. For me, rest of the cast took over in parts).

Regarding his superstar status, its more like aamir and HR where the movie has to be good to do well. Openings are assured though. With SRK and salman, even most bokwaas movies make 100cr. To achieve that, he needs mass support which he lacks totally.

All being said, he's the superstar of current generation but karan slotting him with khans is just his love showing.

BBB was a hit, LVRB was not a flop, neither was Gunday. Infact, Gunday finished at almost 80 crores, and Besharam I think finished at 65 lol so lets not go there. Lootera was a flop but he got lots of strong reviews for his acting.

Anyway for those who think Ranbir is better then the Khans, Amitabh or Hrithik, go and compare the first week collections of Ranbir's Besharam to that of any Khan or Hrithik. You'll see the difference in the he stardom right there.

IF YOU CONSIDER RL TO BE 200 crore film then SO IS YJHD which apparently grossed higher

Your argument fails... You BO stats is not true at all... YJHD was a bigger hit than RL in each and every way

Ranbir amazing actor, one of best of generation! Is he a better actor than Khans!? Right now yes, But compared to Khans's past performance .. Maybe! Atleast slight better than SRK and Salman in terms of acting...

He is only actor right now among young fellows that has raced to top... Ranveer is lacking behind! Gunday was not a hit, Lootera flopped, RL was hit and brought him fame but half credit should go to Deepika in this case... Ranveer has time to catch up with him! (I took Ranveer's example because he is only tough competitor of Ranbir)

Does Ranbir have mass appeal!?? Hmm... Not that much like Khans or Akshay but definitely he does. Besharam had 18.5 crore box office opening despite such negative reviews and buzz before release... People definitely went to watch Ranbir hence proving he does have mass appeal...

I think Ranbir is a good actor so whatever I'm going to say isn't to bash him.

For me Ranbir is still a star and is nowhere near the status of superstardom. He still has a long way to go and I believe that the era of superstardom is over at least until the Khans are here. Right now there are so many movies to go around and a lot of new talent. With Ranbir and the newer lot, their success completely depends on their films. People say film was good and then say Ranbir was good. Whereas with the Khan's the people go into the theatre saying the film will be good because the Khans are there. That is the difference. With Ranbir and the newer lot, people will like them as long as their films are good. Their latest film is good so they are the hot thing and everyone loves them, then the next person comes a long. With the Khans it is something else.

Had there been only one Khan then perhaps there was space for another superstar, but there are three of them and they all offer something different. Some like all three and others like at least one. There is no room for more in one way. At least one is the first choice of most and then there is Hrithik as well.

The day people watch his film because he is Ranbir Kapoor is the day he will achieved the next stage.
