If sources are to believed, one of Bollywood's most bitter cold wars has finally ended. Yes, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone have reportedly finally called a truce.
What's more is that the broker of peace between Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone has been none other than Ayan Mukerji.
The director, who had famously said that the two actresses would be the last two people he'd like to share space with on a desert island, played peacemaker when all hell broke loose between the two recently.
Deepika and Katrina have assidiously avoided each other's company since Ranbir Kapoor and Kat started filming for 'Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani'. It is believed that Katrina is the reason Deepika and Ranbir broke up and Dippy has never forgiven her for it.
Just like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan before they patched up, the two never miss an opportunity to make sly jabs at the other in interviews. Things, however, came to a head at a recent party thrown by Ayan.
Sources tell us that Deepika Padukone, who is otherwise a rather composed person, couldn't resist talking loudly about mismatched bikinis - a next to certain allusion to Katrina and Ranbir's leaked Ibiza holiday photos.
Dippy meanly went on to wonder aloud about how the photos had reached the press and that if you were going to plant stories about yourself, she, for one, would ensure that at least she'd look good in the photos she 'provided'.
Katrina confronted Deepika and what followed next was a screaming match that saw many ugly things said about Katrina's moddycoddling, Deepika's dirty tricks to sabotage other's careers (Sonam Kapoor, in particular) and their respective boyfriends Ranbir and Ranveer. The whole party was stunned into silence and Ayan was forced to drag the screaming girls aside to a room and then to make them make peace with each other.
While little is known about what transpired in the room, a source at the party said that the three of them were holed up there for over three hours. When they emerged though, it was a different Deepika and Katrina from the girls who had gone in. Both also seemed to have been crying. Katrina and Ranbir left shortly after but guests were in for yet another surprise, when Katrina and Deepika warmly hugged each other before the former left.
Deepika was later heard telling guests that she had misunderstood Katrina and that she hoped this would be the start of a friendship that would last a long time.
