Oh I thought that when Katrina was asked about this film she said "it's not right to talk about unconfirmed films" ...so I assumed it meant that she is talks for the film, but it's not final yet...whereas she flat out denied being approached for some other films. Never heard Ashutosh talk about this film so I dunno.

As for Deepika, she has been approached for everything from Mother India to the films Aaradhya Bachchan's kids will do.

Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif say no to period film

Bollywood beauties Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif, who tasted success this year with commercial films like Chennai Express, Ram-leela, and Dhoom: 3, have reportedly turned down Ashutosh Gowarikar's period film Mohenjo-daro.

A leading tabloid reports that Deepika has apparently said no to director Ashutosh Gowarikar's upcoming film. The tabloid also reported a source as saying, "Deepika is busy shooting for films she has already signed, including Happy New Year, Shuddhi, and Window Seat. She doesn't have any dates for the next two years and thus had to turn down a role in Ashutosh Gowarikar's film, Mohenjo-daro."

It was reported that both Deepika & Katrina turned down Ashutosh's movie. Though I feel all this may be from film's PR team to hype up the project. PR works both ways.

this .. exactly.. our thoughts are alike.. even a wooden plank will do but not deepika and katrina.. i just cannot bare these two gals onscreen, am alreday horrified how to bare Bang Bang though.. i guess only Hrithik factor interests me in the film ..

I want them to consider Sonakshi, Vidya, Kangana (as I liked her scenes with Hrithik in Krrish 3) and Shraddha. As these actresses will make fresh pairing with him.

No Katrina (repeat), Deepika , Kareena, Aishwariya and Priyanka.

@Bold: It says "A role", not "the leading role". Probably she has been approached for a supporting role.

Because honestly, this film requires someone who can act!

It's difficult to bear Katrina even in her two bit roles, I can't imagine her essaying a lead role in an Ashutosh Gowariker film (running time minimum 3.5 hours).

The audience will run away if they had to see her wooden expressionless face for more than 3 hours! 😆

And it's not exactly a film where she can fit in an item song to draw crowds. So either it's a supporting role or she's just trying to fuel a rumour.
