Well what else can be expected from a sexist society? I'm glad that she's picking up good work though. Both her movies had great scripts! And she's already proved herself. I don't think she needs to anymore. I think she should do smaller roles and try to help new producers/directors out with movies that are small-budgeted. Not everything needs to be heavily commercialized.

Wow... is there anyone on this forum who doesn't get bashed like crazy? Genuine question - do you guys hate everyone?
I'm shocked at the negativity surrounding all the stars on IF... You people don't even spare Madhuri? She's at least attempting to break the rules and showing that married, settled down actresses past their 'prime' can still come back and kick ass as lead actresses. The backlash baffles me. So what if Gulaab Gang and Dedh Ishqiya flopped? Are you losing money? If there are a few producers out there who don't mind taking risks and trying to change how things work in the industry (for the better), why do you all whine so much?

Did anyone expect Gulaab Gang to be a hit? Even you cast the supposedly hit machines Deepika and Katrina in Gulaab Gang, the film would have flopped. Maybe the initial would have been 2-3 crores higher, but the fate of this film was sealed. It looked horrid from the promos, so cut Madhuri some slack.

And if anyone is making fun of Dedh Ishqiya flopping, I don't know what to say? That was a superlative film, in all aspects. It's no less than a cult-classic and has won tremendous critical acclaim. If the Indian audience is too uncultivated for such a classy gem, then don't blame the stars who have excelled in the film.

If the top heroes can keep on signing trash fests which keep on minting hundreds of crores, then what's the harm with older heroines constantly trying to strengthen and prolong their careers? Some of their films might not be striking gold at the box office, but they're being made on a reasonable budget, and when you add up all the revenues, most of them manage to recover their investments. Besides, actresses belong to this industry as much as their male counterparts, and the industry owes them as much as well.

Quit being so judgemental and negative - that's all I'm going to say.

Madhuri...Non actor???? 😲
Okay that just says it all about ones perception of acting...
Madhuri was never OTT in her acting and dramatics... Her acting skills were always subtle... Just because you like her competitor doesn't mean that Madhuri is a non actor...
Watch Prem pratigya, Prahaar, Anjaam, Tezaab, Pukaar, Parinda,

And lot of critics thought the beta movie should have been renamed to Beti...

Madhuri made an ordinary script look interesting and worth watching...

If she was given a Lamhe or Chandni, m sure she would have rocked it too... Box office doesn't decide the fate of ones acting, in hat ways Smita Patil and Tabu are also non actors cos they too have cinemas that were applauded by the critics but were nit commercial hits...

lol comments on here are so childish. just because an actress doesnt have such a big box office pull means she should stop acting?? there are other roles in movies need to be filled other than the girl that comes in for 5 minutes in a movie and peeks over the hero's shoulder. at least she's doing meaningful roles, even if the films dont do well. dedh ishqiya was such a good film and gulaab gang seems to have a good message (i havent watched it yet , going tomorrow) so i hope madhuri keeps working in good films.

Madhuri fans really need to stop bringing up the feminism angle in order to make it seem like shes doing anything great just because shes "working" and a woman. She's not the first senior actress to be working after marriage and children. There have been MANY who have done that and done it BETTER.

Just because a senior actress is working, doesn't mean you should "automatically" support her because shes a woman in a sexist industry.

Im sure she was really great and popular in her time, but the moment has passed. She doesn't have the talent to be a "pathbreaker" for women in terms of acting. Its funny, most people believed Madhuri objectified women in 90's, and today her fans want her to be some kind of pathbreaker. Its not going to happen. You should just watch re-runs of her old movies.

Im sure a lot of people may have childhood attachments to Madhuri, but you really need to let it go and face reality 😆

😆 This cracked me up. Are you kidding me?

Madhuri couldn't even carry GG properly, forget Lamhe or Chandni, her performance was not unanimously loved, and most people liked Juhi better.
