Every film has its own merits, which decides its budget. Yet, some filmmakers ask for the moon as soon as a corporate house finds their film worthy of acquiring. And that's exactly what happened with this film. This film was made on a stipulated budget and had it been sold in accordance with its budget, the corporate house that acquired it would have broken even, at the very least.
The problem is, the corporate house was sort of desperate to make movies, so the people behind this film demanded an unreasonable sum.
Result: Although the filmmakers made a good profit, the corporate house that invested in ended up at the losing end of the deal.
