Yaar..I am just saying it is difficult to predict awards based just on performance...as awards are often bought and depends on connections..

From the trailers so far could be Shahid.

Haider won't be a big enough success to be able for Shahid to compete in the best actor award. Its either going to be Ranbir or Aamir for Bombay Velvet or Peekay!

Aamir is going to be horrible with his botoxed face in PK. Raju Hirani factor will make it the biggest film till date. Competition would be between Shahid and Ranbir. Award shows are now looking at smaller films with good performances rather than the biggest hits.

It might seem that way, but Barfi, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Rockstar were all among the top 10 grossers of the year. Only SRK has won a filmfare(Swades) when a film wasn't a top 10 grosser of the year, but of course.

So unless Haider makes some money at the box office, Shahid will be hoping for a critics choice award and quite honestly Haider's chances at the box office look bleak, even with the best release period of the year.

I don't know why people are ready to jump to the conclusion that Haider won't make money...Shahid's latest RR was a semi-hit, could have been a hit had its screens not been taken away by D3...Shahid-VB-UTV combo Kaminey was a semi-hit in spite of dengue fever & all...looks like Critics are liking Haider and won't diss it like they did RR..so opening will be good..the storyline is family drama..so should not be like Kaminey where half the folks did not understand the story sequence...there is enough intrigue & quality acting to draw in the audience..It being UTV..hope Haider will get good number of screens..inspite of BB...
Also Shraddha's latest two movies have been hits..so her fans would also add to the number..

Let's see what happens..but I see no reason for people to conclude already that it won't score at BO

I can see Bossman's point about Haider not making money. The problem is the kind of films VB makes rather than Shahid Kapur here. I dont think his films ever made money while winners of previous BA awards...all their films made 100cr. UTV is good in promoting hatke films but then Haider releases on the same day as BB. At best the film will make 50-60 cr like Queen did if its a hit. RR was a semi-hit but its audiences were completely different from Haider. The massy audiences dont flock to films like Haider.

Kaminey was a dark VB film but it made good money in spite of losing initial days in Mumbai...Shahid-VB combo works at BO...also I think for the first time a Shahid movie is going to enjoy a holiday release..

As for audience..no one can predict..if BMB can be a hit, why not Haider...

With RR, Shahid added to his single screen fan base..so that would help..

Shahid, Shahid, SHAHID!!!!
And I disagree with people saying that Haider will flop. Sure Bang Bang will have the record breaking opening, and true that VB's movies hardly have any audience, but times are changing. This year, and the year before, many films which were expected to work flopped, and vice versa - so it's unfair to rule out Shahid/Haider.

From the trailer, it looks like he's given an outstanding performance.

2nd choice - Ranbir for Bombay Velvet.
